Nope...not the provider herself although that did make me smile. I was not being discourteous but we're not buying an appliance or a used car or whatever. We're buying a very personal service where the quality of the service is determined largely if not entirely by the provider of the service. A provider of any service whether it be a waiter or a software consultant can give you grade B service or grade A service or even grade F service. Surely there are big drawbacks to grade F service because your reputation will suffer greatly but grade be will probably still keep you in business. My point was only that if my expectations are for grade A and a service provided of any kind feels that they as professionals have marketed themselves at a fair price I am not inclined to invite grade be service by asking for a discount unless I can offer perhaps an iron clad promise of volume... So, perhaps over time asking for a discount is not out of line...its just not my style. Discussing discounts, IMO is not necessarily a bad thing but as with anything, there are factors to consider. If you are dealing with a top both provider who never wavers on her excellent service, it would be an insult to suggest a discount, unless of course you increased the frequency if your visits quite a bit, otherwise why would anyone be entitled to a discount? Even with an agreement of a lower rate with regular & consistent visits a provider might run in to problems with customers not keeping their end of the bargain while still benefiting from a discounted rate. It makes sense of providers to either keep a specific rate for everyone or offer discounts to everyone at certain times. Nothing like knowing you had a steady income stream coming in from someone you know and someone who is safe, clean and sane. I think it's very appropriate to ask for a volume, regular discount.
