You get a bit of a whiff but nothing even close to demobilizing. They get a facefull though and you just got to be able to get out. Got to try to look away for a moment and / or duck though but even if you don't you shouldn't get all that much bouncing off at you. Plus, your advantage is that you know what's coming and mentally should be able to handle slight burning anyway.

I was actually so up on adrenaline by that point that I stock my hand into the guy's back pocket and pulled out about $30 that he had there on the way out. The proudest $30 I made in my life! They tried to rob me and I robbed him instead! Although I have to admit it was pretty stupid of me to do it because the guy did swung about and I was lucky that he didn't get me. If he would've connected he probably would be able to pin me down. I was in my mid 50's at the time and still am not in best shape. But pepper spray works. If in doubt how to best use it just take a class. There are plenty of them out there.

[/QUOTE]That's my experience as well; 1/2 of the effect of pepper spray is the surprise, the shock of getting it in your face when you weren't expecting it. It's disabling for a moment because of that, allowing you to get away or overcome your adversary. But if someone knows it's coming, they can steel themselves for it and the effect is mitigated.

I've been sprayed, on purpose, and whether you steel yourself for it or not if you get a direct hit you'd be suffering. The most important thing imo is to work out in your head what are you going to do if one of them falls down and blocks your exit.

I think you got to be ready to use your legs to kick him / her out of the way because if you grab them and try to pull or push them away you'd find yourself in deep shit before you know it. You remember all the Kung Fu movies and UFC fights you've seen in your life and do your best imitation of Conor McGregor on their face. Don't worry they'd live. You're no Mike Tyson, trust me on that.

That never happen to me because the hoe and her beau that were trying to rob me were screaming and crying and cursing me away from the door but that was sheer luck.

On the other hand, if in that situation you were to exercise your 2nd amendment rights you better have your plane reservation to either Russia or China all planned out and ready.
