Keeping anonymous from a SB? Keeping your activities hidden from an SO? Those are two key things for most guys. The former is a lot about opsec, not tech. Of course, tech helps w / the latter. I always want to be in a position that I can hand my phone or my laptop to my SO and tell her that she's free to look at anything she wants. The only way to do that is literally to have nothing on it, but you can store a lot of stuff in the cloud, or the equivalent. Recall that Gen. Petraeus never ever sent an email to his mistress, but they both had access to the same email account, and would just put drafts on it that the other could read. They were caught by the NSA, but presumably, a SB or the SO don't have access to their tech. I have posted earlier on this, I think these are reasonable measures most could do.

I use security browsers whenever possible. Tor is great for security, Epic is pretty good. The latter has a built-in VPN, the former is like VPN inside a VPN. I don't think either of these work very well on the SA site at this time. This has varied over time, and is somewhat dependent on specifics, like OS. I do use Epic for entering the webpage for Google Voice. As another approach, I use my work VPN, which puts me into a server that has 20,000 users, it would require the cooperation of my employer to figure out that it was me using a particular node at any one time, this is very unlikely to happen. I currently am using Safari through the VPN to access SA.

I think GV is a great tool, it enables me to text from home on a web page, where I never have my burner phone, b / c a physical object is always a risk of discovery. I am always on my laptop, the SO can be in the house as long as I listen while I type. I do like to run the apps off a thumb drive. That is good to keep caches etc. Off your main hard disk. I have a separate thumb drive at my office that is encrypted and on which I keep everything, screenshots of the profiles of current POTs and past SBs, their pix, etc. That could also be done on the cloud. The reason I like the thumb drive, in the event of a serious breach and needing to dispose of evidence quickly, it can easily be flushed.

I think a burner, while it does have the risk of discovery, is a good idea. Put GV on it and you have double protection. You can put GV on your regular phone, IK several people here do that. I think there is a risk of your sugar life crossing over into your real life is you do this though, and you'd really better know what you're doing if you go this way.

Never use bookmarks. Memorize your logins and passwords.

I don't think secure passwords and stuff like that are any real issue / benefit.

I fear that Google could easily figure out who I am, b / c my employer uses Google to host our servers, and they can obviously do some comparisons and see the same machine / node doing different things, my sugar identity and my IRL identity. I just rest on the idea that they have no motivation to do this so long as LE isn't subpoenaing them, and I don't do anything that even skirts on illegal.

This is the first time this has happened to me in 15 yrs, so I'm not too upset. What I'm mad about is not listening to my gut (there were red flags) and not following the rules that have kept me safe all these years.

SA doesn't have that info about me, and a significant part of the postings here are about how to get your SA membership without giving that info up. I do it routinely, as I have posted. I used a prepaid card, I have an email address that is anonymous (and I use a service that enables unlimited email aliases, which lets me get a new profile on SA w / a new email address in case they ban an old one). I give them my 'sugar identity', something I made up long ago and have recorded so it is consistent.
