Last night around midnight our favorite uncle had just about every piece of equipment they got around Bragg and Garner. There were cars everywhere and two mounties on Segways! Add to that there was an EMT unit and a fire truck. Maybe the LEOs were related to the EMTs but I am not sure. Segways! When did that start? I have read about so many pedestrians hit by cars in the last six to nine months in Raleigh. Some hit and runs like the one Saturday night, but quite a few have not been hit and run.
I've noticed it quite often too. It seems that every time I'm there I almost hit someone walking down the middle of the road. Especially where there it's dark and the street lights aren't adequate. And, it's not limited to thugs and hos. It seems in certain neighborhoods the sidewalks are off limits and everybody walks down the middle of the street. I have traveled a lot, and can attest that I've never seen a city where it's more prevalent. Are there no laws against walking in a street that has sidewalks in Raleigh? I ask because it's so prevalent, and because I've seen Police cars drive right by people doing just that. It's absolutely crazy.
BTW, I have seen / met a few pretty BSWs during my last trips to Raleigh in late June and early July, so there are still a few nice ones running around.
