In any case the main reason young people get the vaccine to provide herd immunity, so that they cannot get it and spread it, causing the death or debilitation of old and medically vulnerable people they live around. The Johnson and Johnson vaccine might have killed one person, for which America discontinued its use for some time. The Astra-Zeneca vaccine is not allowed in the USA for largely the same reasons. Which serves as a reminder that the authorities take the risk of vaccine side effects very seriously. With millions of doses being delivered, even rare 1 in a million side effects should start to be detectable. Its clear that even if you are young, and even if you are unlikely to catch Covid-19 due to the pandemic finally beginning to wind down, it is still probably safer to get the vaccine.
