Thoughts on putting room in your name.
I know I don't post often, but I think I might be being scammed and need some help.
Been talk to this girl: https://www.seeking.com/member/c37eedd8-8af7-44bc-ad8d-12a90e49c712 and we're meeting up tomorrow. She's giving me a sob story about not having a place to stay so I figured I'd just get her a hotel room and it'll solve two problems! But now I'm wondering if there's some way she could take advantage of a hotel room in my name?
Thoughts?
May not be a scam regarding the room, but a very bad idea. I doubt she's going to steal the mattress, but the flat screen tv is reasonably portable. Non smoking room? $200 fee or more if she smokes in it. Have a few friends over for a party, they'll trash the place. Cigarette burns in carpet. Maybe she'll use the room as an incall for the night? How do you feel about getting a call from the police if she was busted? Are you involved in human trafficking?
How are you going to prevent her from not staying past check out time?
Just not a good idea.
If you are going to do this, Motel 6 let's you checkin without a credit card. Have her check in under her name, and you can pay cash for the room and deposit for incidentals. It would be best for you to be with her at checkin and pay clerk directly. Up to that point, you could have her thinking you were going to use a credit card.
Also, the "hourly" motels usually don't require identification, and do offer overnight rates. I once called one located between DC and Baltimore, rate for 1 hour (after 5 pm) $80. Rated for overnight. $80.
She's probably just using the story to get sympathy to get more money from you.
