The most entertaining read
Gents.
I am not from your area but kept seeing the SB thread show up on the Front Page with posted comments.
So today I clicked onto the thread and began reading. Then I had to go back 3 pages to get the jist of the discussion, then back 6 or 8 pages. Fascinating discussions.
This has been the most interesting read. Glad you guys are having so much fun with the chase of the SB's and wish you much success in obtaining the desired prize. Again, great read!

Any particular hotel brand that is sending f / you mail?
My experience over the last couple of years is that all of the major moderately-priced chains may send you advertising in the postal mail after you stay with them... and it's hard to talk away as "postal spam" something addressed specifically to you and saying "Thanks for your recent stay with us!" For this reason, I always give them my work address, which I can confirm with my business card. Junk mail to me there requires no explanation.
CWL:
Have you noticed these mailing or questionaires being from any specific brand of hotel?
I based my posted opinion on 30 or more stays at hotels with 0 mail. These are typically lower end motels, Quality, Motel69, Super8, etc. Not one piece of mail to date.
A little higher than that

Hotel Marketing Follow-up
My impression was that the less expensive hotels are less likely to send you marketing stuff after a stay but I wasn't really sure. It's great to have this confirmed by experience.
I made the mistake of joining Hilton Honors years ago and can't get rid of it. I never give them my HH number when I check in, they always dig it up anyway and send me an email congratulating me on my recent stay at their hotel on such and such a date. Drives me crazy. I finally realized I can unsubscribe from their emailing list so that seems to have stopped. In any case they only have my PO Box as a mailing address (like a business address) and the credit card I use is billed online with the PO Box as the postal address.
