All that results from that "sting" last year, no?
What really gets me is why they put so much time & effort into an activity that takes place behind closed doors between two consenting adults. If I was one to find such activity objectionable I think I would know to pass that one up - make a mental note for future reference but pass it up.
If these guys that find it so disgusting were being held down and being forced into sexual contact w/ the providers then they might have a point. Of course the providers might have a whole new line of clients but you know what I mean.
I would like to know just how it's determined that they are a "a public nuisance and have created a drain on city resources". Does that translate into "there's money changing hands & we're not getting any of it"?

Del Mar no more
The Del Mar, home of the 2 hours for $35 hotel rate on the strip, has been shut down.

Del Mar
LV Review article is at:

One part I liked:
In the most dramatic moment of Wednesday's hearing, two police officers wheeled before the council members more than 150 pounds of condoms seized from the motel during a November raid, dropping them before the council dais with a thud.
The four boxes held 11,955 condoms, and a handwritten log found with them indicated that the 35-unit motel went through an average of 144 condoms a day, Sgt. Eric Fricker testified.

144 a day? Hell, that's only 6 per hour or 4 per room over the course of a day. Doesn't sound like they were too busy. Of course, they make it sound like gaggles of hooks going thru revolving doors in the rooms.

I may have mentioned this before, but there is a "rest of the story" with regard to the Del Mar. In Las Vegas, money is everything. We don't have too many Bible-beltish moralists here (one reason I love living here). We also don't have many uber-feminists here (yet another reason I love living here). Money rules all. If the right political wheels are greased, the proper contributions made to the Metro "widows and orphans fund," etc. the law pretty much tolerates whatever.
The Del Mar is on a piece of land on the Strip between Downtown and the Stratosphere/Sahara. This area is primed to boom, and some developments, including high-rises are already under construction. The word on the street is that some investors wanted the land the Del Mar sits on. The owner was making a lot of money with the Del Mar and didn't want to sell. The investors apparently upped the ante to force him to sell. I think the Oasis Motel, which is very similar to the Del Mar, is still in operation. The charges at the Del Mar are BS. If they wanted to close every hotel in Las Vegas where prosititution occurs, they'd have to close the Del Mar, the Bellagio, the Luxor, the Excalibur, Circus-Circus, the Riviera, the Rio, Motel 6, etc.
I don't know why Henderson decided to crack down on AMPs all of a sudden. There might be more to the story here, or it could be that Henderson is trying to establish itself as a "family friendly" part of Las Vegas. AMPs are exploding, pun intended, within the Las Vegas City Limits and in the unincorporated areas.

As far as "the rest of the story" goes, I think most owner operators in that area realized that they were marked for extinction when they dolled up the intersection of 3rd & the strip years ago. That whole run of the strip - damn near up to Fremont has been marked for "cleansing" for 20 years. I think if they want to make some impact they should start on the other side of the street - on 3rd street. They know that once the traffic control changes come in they've been marked. More traffic=more exposure=more complaints. They call it a "revitalization campaign".
The area just west of the strip & north of Wyoming used to be a monger's paradise. One could drive up Casino Center behind the old Odyssey Records and cute chicks would pull up their shirts just to get you to stop. A lot of the empty lots used to be riding acadamies. The city put in a little traffic control (along w/ more black & whites) and it slowed down a little 10-15 years ago and now is nothing at all like it used to be. The more "repulsive activities" of the street-banging crack-crowd being attracted to that area helped kill it too. Crack & needles don't mix well w/ puss. Never has. It's always been a formula for problems on both sides of the monger/tourist & city fence.
Just like downtown - after Moran ran all the "good girls" on the strip into the ads & flyers business - all the riding acadamies just north of Fremont began shutting down for whatever type of violations (building codes, etc) and eventually ended up burning down or being razed and strangely turning into hotel parking structures for a song & dance.
Another big push in another golden oldie area is the stretch of the strip by Bonneville. The good ones (riding acadamies) on the strip have been sliding into oblivion since the mid-80's and many were where you can find government buildings of some type or another. Or something that's more city council friendly.
The statement about shutting down hotels where prostitution occurs is a bit off-base. Hotels where it occurs and motels that cater to it (riding acadamies) are two different animals. Finding a decently dressed, moderately attractive woman at a casino bar for $$-$$$$$ ain't the same as cute chicks hanging over the balcony in their nightgowns or bathing suits. Sadly those chicks have transformed into crank-skanks and, for the most part, have become a PITA in regards to Metro "tourist" related crime calls over the last 15-20 years. Hence the canopy on Fremont. Ran them off that area a bit and they can make their own rules under it being a colloboration of private/city energies. The big push to bring tourists back to a "bad area".
A lot of the old riding acadamies that are still left on Fremont have been gussying-up knowing their day is short. The area of Fremont between Bruce & Eastern is another soon-to-be extinct area. All it takes is a school, senior-related places and some "city-friendly" businesses to start the ball of scrutiny rolling. The more empty lots that pop up are a sign of success for the city.
Shutting down those nice & friendly HO&MO-tels downtown "off Fremont" have made places like Del Mar flourish on in an attempt to get it while it's there to be got.
That whole area on the strip between the Strat & Fremont is a commercial goldmine and the "old-timers" & the city know their days are numbered. All they need is to have council members know how to legally cover their tracks (like Michael Mac somewhat did), throw in a couple of sacrificial lambs like Erin Kenny and they're gold.
After 24 years & witnessing many re-inventions of the town I'm ready to leave it behind. It's still, in my mind, a small town w/ a hick-town mentality. But now it's 15 pounds of sh!t in a 3 pound bag. Happy 100th Las Vegas!

Amp
Hit this AMP off Paradise just north of Flamingo Rd.
Expensive (by my standards, anyway): .5 for 30 min, $ for 30 min w/TS, $ for 60 min, $.5 for 60 min w/TS, etc. $ for HJ, $$ for nude body slide. Provider was no better than a 6 or 7.
I'll stick to LA and DC.

Indy outcall providers
Awhile back some guy posted a reply about low cost providers as an alternative to the girls in the casinos. He said to look in the back of City Life and you can find plenty of them which would only run you about $150. I tried some of the photo ads but they were all agencies.
Any suggestions?
thanks

No more Del Mar
Are there any oher cheap motels like the Del Mar that we can go to instead?

North Las Vegas
I called an ad in Citylife that said "beautiful Japanese lady" and was directed to a Budget Suite Hotel on Rancho across the Fiesta Casino. The lady was in her 40's but okay looking and very nice. She gives a great massage with a choice of oils and is not rushed. Nice release. Total price $110.

AMPs are exploding, pun intended, within the Las Vegas City Limits and in the unincorporated areas.
In my opinion, it is the begining of the Richard Perkins for Governor campaign. Perkins, you may recall, is the highest ranking elected Democrat officeholder in Nevada as Speaker of the House, and is simultaniously Chief of Police of the City of Henderson. He is now fully vested in his very generous retirement pension plan, so he can leave one or both of his jobs without risking any significant loss of publicly funded income. He is widely presumed to be the most likely Democrat nominee for Governor, and has been assembling staff and organization to make a run for that office. I predict he will run as a "law and order, tough on crime, while I really care about the little (union) workin' folk" candidate. He wants to be somewhat "un-Vegas" to sell himself upstate.
And in a lame attempt to make this post somewhat relevant to the purpose of this board, I'll mention that the Henderson stretch of Boulder seems the better half of that SW track the last several weeks, out well beyond Sam's Town, which is farther than I used to go when hunting that area in the past.

Go to the back of the city life and find ads for Asian massage incall that direct you to an appartement, like on West Trop or something. Years ago I got decent service by a very young pretty K-girl at Trop and Lindell. DO NOT use ANY agency under any circumstance unless you like getting ripped off. Good luck and report back if you find a decent score.

Other locations
Are there any oher cheap motels like the Del Mar that we can go to instead?
I know there is at least one other. I believe it is the Oasis (guys help out if I am wrong), but I would be leary of any of the hourly places on the Blvd. these days. It seems that LE or the City is looking for more creative ways of imposing immenent domain. There are also a couple on Freemont just south of Charleston, but you have to be a lot more cautious here. I have heard of more than a few people getting rolled there. Another interesting development, for those with time to drive a little farther, is an upswing in girls on B. Hwy that have there own rooms. As for me I try and find the casinos with discounts for locals, and take a stroll on the strip.
