All: I know it's always a struggle between keeping old correspondence and not letting the PMs fill the Inbox.
There's a way to do both: at the bottom of Inbox and Sent Messages is a sentence that says:
"Download all Private Messages as: XML.
CSV.
Text".
The XML, CSV, and Text are links that will allow you to download all your existing PMs in each of those formats.
The Text format is probably easiest to deal with, as it is plain text, with all your Sent Messages followed by all your Inbox messages.
The CSV format can be imported into Excel. Then you can sort on the first column, Date, to get the messages into order.
The XML format is also all Sent Messages, followed by all Inbox messages. So far, I haven't found anything out there to parse it into something more readable.
