Cecilia Gentili, founder of Transgender Equity Consulting, lauded the new policy.
"This resolute action to actively decriminalize sex workers is the kind of change our community has been hoping for, advocating for, for decades," she said.
The bulk of the Manhattan dismissals related to loitering for the purpose of prostitution cases — dubbed the Walking While Trans law — which advocates have long said unfairly targets minorities.
Earlier this year, the state legislature struck the controversial statute from its books.
In response, the Brooklyn, Queens and Bronx DAs moved to vacate bench warrants stemming from this charge and dismiss all open cases.
Most of the city's DAs had stopped prosecuting the crime years before it was repealed.
A spokesman for Richmond County the Michael McMahon previously told The Post his office would follow suit. ".

I remember in the Backpage days reading about an admitted prostitute being robbed in Connecticut by a man and calling the cops on the man who robbed her without facing jail time for prostitution but they caught the man who robbed her and he did jail time. Whenever you want to feel sorry for any of these girls in sex work you need to feel sorry for yourself because no one else does. It's not the escorts who need protection out here, believe me they have enough protection. Do you really think that some of these fun sized escorts that have been in the area would escort if they were unprotected? Us men who see escorts are the ones that need protection. These escorts get together after only knowing each other for a few hours but because they both have the same agenda to take your money and are staying in the same hotel they will come together and become buddies that watch each others back. You would have the monger or mongers wait for you in the car, lobby, or leave the place and go to the restaurant down the street etc. It just isn't good for mongers to be alone all the time because it empowers the escorts and people who have malicious intent to get over on the monger because they are defenseless and don't have anyone around to back them up. It is extremely bold for an escort to say that she can take your hard earned money that took you a week to earn and that there is nothing you can do about it. If you are saying that most of the current escorts are conning us I fully agree. The first escort I seen allowed me to put the money on the dresser as we spent time together and did not count the money until the end.

Me too is more about rape and consent, not sex work. I personally know a few very strong feminists who are all about full consent sex work.
I see this more as a response to the thinking that all sex workers are pimped, trafficked, or forced into the trade. We'd be lying to ourselves if we said some women aren't there by choice. Sometimes that force involves addiction or violence, and the person in control uses it for profit. The enforcement change makes it easier for those providers to escape and seek help.
Of course, most here know there are plenty of sex workers who are independent and working willingly, some even enjoy the work. We also know they tend to not be the girls doing $40 QVs all day out of a bottom end Notel. I think the key is to continue to seek out the honest providers, share info, and avoid the situations that are now more becoming even more dangerous to the customer.
In areas not prosecuting providers, seeing unstable crack and smack heads just got more risky, yet the honest providers now have a bit of safety. Ethnic massage parlors, or services who are using providers who work willingly and are not trafficked, may get more fun, as well as possibly require more I'd of customers.
I've been to places in Europe who use similar legal methods around sex work and unlicensed massage, and it can increase the customer fun and keep dependable providers safer. In my experience, it does not make it open season or bring it out into the open like Amsterdam or the Nevada ranches.
