Probably just kids at the time but they probably heard the tales from their parents. Racism always seems to be passed down generation to generation and man do Koreans hold a grudge. It has to do with "han" or a feeling of grief or resentment which is ingrained into the Korean identity and culture. Surprised it's been passed down to second generation and beyond Korean Americans especially with all this cancel culture and woke political climate but there you go.
