It sounds as though Jeep may be fictionalizing a bit, but he raises some points worth considering. I've visited the Warren spas a couple of times, but I'm always left feeling uncertain about the status of the women in them. Are they really free, or are they coerced? I think probably the former but, given the language barrier, it's really hard to find much out about how they feel about anything. The lack of that kind of connection (partly my fault - I don't know any Korean) leaves me feeling guilty about the whole thing. It would be almost impossible to find a place that offers traditional sexual services that accept plastic. All it takes is one dissatisfied customer to dispute his bill and the place will no longer be able to accept cc's.

I spent a good bit of time with someone who worked the rooms for several years and then bought her own AMP. After a year running it herself she bought another one and had someone else run it for her.

The mamsons hire the girls and usually the girls get the tip, the house gets the door fee. To the best of my knowledge, the door fee is not split with the girls and the tip is not shared with the mamson.

The house is open 15 or more hours per day with two or three girls working. So the house should be able to earn as much as $2000 per day. We all see the places busy and empty. So a typical house earns $10000 to $20000 per month. You can buy the business (if you have the right connections) for $100, 000 to $200, 000 and earn that back in the first year. Many times the owner is the mamson. (If the city does not shut down the business it can be sold for more or less than you bought it for depending on how the business improves or falls off while you own it.) Also, it is not unusual for an owner to have more than one house and pay mamsons to run the extra houses for them.

The girls earn $100 or more per tiping customer. It is fairly easy for a good girl to earn $1000 or more per day. They are NOT coerced. This is a business oportunity for them and the smart ones take advantage of it. If you go to one of their homes (apts) you will find Channel bags, Rolex watches, deigner dresses, whatever. They have enough money to live well. But just like anyone else with $100, 000 to $300, 000 per year, some of them will waste most of it, others will not.

I was aware of girls that owned apartment complexes in Korea, bought land there, and invested there in other ways. They flew back to Korea several times a year so that they could move the cash easily. If they get caught and charged here in the USA they will be deported back to Korea (or leave while on bail and not worry about comming back). There they will live well if they have invested right and had enough time before getting caught. If they do not get caught, so much the better.

Now, there may be some that owe somebody money for helping to get them here. But, at $20, 000 to $30, 000 per month, these girls can payoff that type of fee quickly. To the girls that I knew, this was a profession. They planned to do this for long enough to build up enough money to "retire" on and then they were out. They also tack on 5% to get back what the card carrier charges the AMP for the credit card service.
