Which one do you mongers feel more safe at? I typically think apartments are safer but as they stay long term then it gets suspicious. I also worry about towels. Hotels are ackward when you are looking for that damn elevator! For the most part, towels should be clean?

Walking slow gives you time to get your head on somewhat of a swivel looking for the elevator. Act like you have a room there. Idk what others do but this works for me.

Additionally, usually elevator is easy to spot but if I miss it I just keep walking like I know where I am going and take the stairs. If side doors are unlocked I enter that way and take stairs up. But now days the doors are rarely unlocked. I almost always leave by the stairs so as to reduce the traffic seen by the front desk.

Consider checking those out before visiting a place for the first time.
