I use a stealth plate device or a flipper. The ones I have have a curtain that goes up or down to cover the plate on the push of a button. No need to get out of the car and mess with a tag! Some of the flippers allow you to have a different tag on the flip side.
Got mine for '100 on eBay or somewhere, ran wire myself and plugged power into the lighter. When I pull into private property to meet a girl, just push the button and the plate is hidden! That way she doesn't see the tag. Then as you pull out onto the public street, push the button and your tag shows and you are legal again!

Had one girl I met who brought her sister to the meeting / pick up location a couple of times. Once when I was taking them back, we stopped for coffee and one of the girls came up to me as we were leaving and asked why I had no license pate (it was covered). She had checked! I was glad I had the cover.
Oh and once I dropped a girl off at a Hotel known for dates, so when I pulled on the property I pushed the button and covered my plate. As I was leaving, I uncovered the plate, but wasn't sure it uncovered so as I was sitting waiting for a light to change, I cycled the plate cover. Light turned, I turned and as I did the car behind me lit up like a Christmas tree! LE had seen the cycle! Dude was nice, gave me a warning, but took a whole bunch of pics of the device! LOL! I guess that was better than driving down the street with no tag.
So an alternate approach for hiding the plate!
I would be more concerned that some concerned citizen would see that flip and call the cops. Especially in my neighborhood with daytime home burglaries and the ever present package delivery thefts from front porches.
