They can't go to cops and report, so people with agendas that go beyond the usual transaction are emboldened by the lack of possible repercussions. It's the reason why I have maintained, even in my non-monger life, that prostitution should be made legal. It fixes so many problems, with only the Bible thumpers would say it creates problems.

If things go south, ladies can go to the cops for resolution as they would be protected just like any other livelihood. Taxes are collected. Health insurance can be made available. Testing programs can be instituted. It frees up police resources who shouldn't be policing what is a private service transaction between consenting adults. Human traffickers use the threat of arrest as a weapon, and legalizing it takes away that weapon. There are so many upsides to the legalization of prostitution, if only the Bible thumpers get out of the way.
