First post is a question?
Greetings,
Anyone remember where Mary is these days? Among other places, she used to work at the Zen bodywork in Chelmsford, ma. Thanks.
Welcome Ed, don't know if you have been observing for a long time or not, but generally members like to see someone contribute before posting questions. Why don't you tell us about some of your ventures?
Search engines and techniques to exclude websites or specific pages from indexing
There are simple ways for a website to prevent its pages from being indexed, which is much better than each poster using misspellings and obfuscation. You can use a single file the specifies which parts of the website should be indexed and / or which parts are private and not to be indexed (robots. Txt). Also, you can use a meta tag (<meta name="googlebot" content="noindex" Google does honor these methods of specifying that parts of the website should not be indexed and remain private. Refer to this page for a quick summary: http://googleblog. blog spot . com/2007/01/controlling-how-search-engines-access. html.
Individual posters do not need to try to trick Google themselves, if the website administrators do their job. I cannot say however if our admins set this up correctly. We often gripe at new members to do their research and RTFF, but keep in mind that misspellings and veiled references to spa names, girls names, and locations make such a task difficult.
