Correct. You're basically trying to figure out when every other potential customer is going to go. And many of those people are also trying to pick a "less busy" time.

One day a certain time will be completely dead and the next they won't even have room to put you into a waiting room.

Parking lot isn't the best indication either. I've gone in to these places when the parking lot looked empty only to realize that it was slammed inside (people park further away and walk, uber, etc).

If you gave her a $40 tip on top of the $200, especially if she didn't ask for one, it's not really on them if YOU overpaid. And for what it's worth, everywhere else is the same price or even higher, and usually with inferior service unless you get lucky. For overall consistency, I would say MM is up there with the best. Just slow it down, take control and make sure to get your money's worth. And again, no need to tip over and above the $200 entry fee.
