If they ask for a deposit, 99.99% of the time, it's a fake. Sorry you had to learn that lesson the hard way.

If guys don't do their research and don't heed the red flag warnings then there is no sympathy for getting ripped off. Common sense guys, start thinking with the right head and you will fair much better on your decisions.
