I was just chilling in my room watching a Jet Li flick when a female friend hit me up and asked me to go to a massage place with her. She did some really nice deep pressure massage on my head and shoulders while I was sitting up (none of those BS light touches you find at HE joints).

Next she asked me to lie down face-up and started some more head massage, then she put a warm towel to cover my eyes and proceeded to massage my arms and legs. When all was done, she asked me to lie face-down and did a whole back massage. My favorite. Then some more leg and ass, I mean, buttock massage. All was done with lots of pressure (I like it that way) and very consistently so. Oil was used moderately throughout the session.

At the end they would give you either a cup of hot tea or water. Beside the quality of the massage, what I also like about this place is even though I came almost at closed time, the masseuse did not rush through her session at all. One minor complaint that I have is sometimes the owner/manager would come in and talk to the masseuse right next to you, kinda disrupting my zen flow :) But for what I get for 20 bucks I can't care less.

The rate is $15/hr body and foot massage + $6 tip (I wanted to tip more but that was all I had). Highly recommended for a good, clean, relaxing massage.

Yep, been there a coupla times. In fact, there are quite a few in that area, I usually go to the ones upstairs on the second floor. They are wholly legit, and you described them very well. They are exactly as you state, except I believe they are Vietnamese establishments with Vietnamese employees. I'd be a bit surprised if it were a Korean therapist you had.

I wasn't sure what language they were speaking, but it was either Korean or Chinese, that much I know.

While I've never been there, the type of service and price they are charging is very much in line with some of the Chinese foot massage places in the SGV. The massage is also similar to legit places that I've been in Shanghai. I've never known Koreans to be very much into foot massage, although it is possible I suppose.

I have had a full shaitsu for $15 in Little Saigon on a chair, exotic massage with hot stone. I tip the shaitsu therapist well compared to the normal foot massage and I know her for a long period and I trust her fully. Hard to make an appointment with shaitsu therapist as the place is not structured for it. I have had my share of injury too. Be careful and speak up before it is too late.

Full body massage for $30 or 2 hour foot massage with certain therapist is worth considering.

I have yet to see a korean in a foot massage place in Little Saigon or Garden Grove. It is too demanding and hard work to say the least. The price is too low from a Korean business model. I do see this service offered in Ktown and I have not experienced it to comment.

Many women come to these places during the day time. Dressing accordingly.

If you find a Korean foot massage for $15 in Little Saigon or GG pease let us know.

K, here is a guide to the Vietnamese Cafes that was posted on another site. Disclaimer: This guide is from late 2006 so some info has changed since then. Additionally, this is the work of another monger, not me, so don't bug me with questions as my personal experience is limited. I'd like to give credit to the author but he has been MIA for a while and not sure what the policy is so for now I'll leave it anonymous:

Here is basically how it goes. Walk in, look for an open table, sit the hell down. Eventually, a waitress will bring you tea (hot or cold) and ask for your drink. There is no menu (99. 99% of the time) so don't botehr asking.

Standard Choices are (and I ain't vietnamese so pardon the spelling) :

Cafe Sua the. Vietnamese Iced coffee with condensed milk.

Cafe Sua Nom. Same as above but hot.

Cafe Dang the. Vietnamese Iced black coffee (strong as hell)

Cafe Dang Nom. Same thing but hot.

Nuoc Cam. Fresh (sorta) Squeezed orange juice.

Sinh To Buh. Avocado milk shake.

The bottom two (and anything else really) run $1 higher than the coffees.

If you want, you could just say it in English, since even the fobs understand a little English. Wait awhile and out comes your drink. You're generally expected to sip the thing, as about 99% of places expect you to order only one drink.

No you can not sit there without ordering. Only exception would be if you are a regular in a big group and you meet them there only for a minute or two, and you are known to leave a good tip. Imagine walking into hooters and not ordering anything. Kinda' weird right?

Additionally, cigarettes are probably available; typically malboro reds / lights, and maybe 555's, but if you are a white guy and a new face, you could probably forget about them giving you any. Since they will think you are a cop. Anyway, don't be suprised to find out that smoking does carry on in these places. Occasionally, the cops will come in and raid the place, and give tickets to people they catch smoking, I think it's like $200 (maybe $600 now since the governor raised caertain fines to pay for the deficit). If you see the cops, put your shit out, and make sure to look scared. That will usually get you off the hook.

During your stay, you have a wide array of entertainment available. You can covertly oogle the girl, but don't make it too obvious unless once again, you are a pimp and smoother than velvet on a cold day. There is usually a bunch of sport games on, which is why you will hear people getting mad / happy when teams score. Sicne they probably have their entire paycheck riding on whether team A coevrs the spread or not. You can usually play the California Lottery game "Hot Spot" also, this is accomplished by filling out the form and handing it to the cashier with the appropriate payment. If you like the cashier, or the girl closest to the machine when you get there (assuming she has lotto machine access priveleges) , this is another cheesey way to get more opportunities to spit game.

Some places have video games, or those money eating mega touch things. If you want to play that (and girls love those damn things by the way) you sould probably sit at a machine to begin with. Besides that, some places have cards (though many guys bring their own) , and most places have Chinese chess. No, it's not the same as USA chess, and yes, it is hard to learn.

Anyway, drink your tea, and the waitresses will make their rounds and refill them. Generally, this is when guys will try to do make their advances. The girls are encouraged to greet you, make brief small talk, etc, but if they really don't like you, they don't really have to. Unless you're a pimp, or the girl initiates it, touching is usually out of the question, though you may see some girls nowadays giving hugs or sitting closely next to some regulars. This, along with the idea of wearing loungerie and bikinis, has only been around for the past couple of years or so. Ditto hearing american music being played. Back in '95 it was a whole other ballgame, but that's off topic.

One thing. If you become a regular, and you find a favorite that seems to like you, and she always tells you she is single and wants you to visit more often (inperson or by phone) , chances are she is not single, and she just wants you to come back and keep giving her tip. The owneres encourage this. Most girls will never admit they have a boyfriend, and they will offer you a plethora of excuses as towhy they can't go out (they are tired, they have to work early, they have been working all day, they have a test tomorrow, etc). Anyway, you may have to point to your table so she will know which bill is yours (though probably not if you are the only white guy in there). Cash only, and don't expect a receipt. You could ask for a to go cup if you REALLY are going to drink your drink later and didn't finish it. Coffee is usually $3-5, other drinks are usually $4-6. Cigarettes are $5 I believe.

Throw your tip on the table, yes $2 is ok if you came alone and din't stay forever, leave a big mess, etc. $5 would be a good tip if you are alone. 2 people, we usually tip $4-7, but you could probably get away with $3-6.

Walk out the door, and bam, you have sucessfully cafe'd.

I would hate to be the one to drive up inflation at cafe, so let me reiterate and say that I am an unusually high tipper, and $2-3 is actually perfectly acceptable.

As for oogling. Well, they are normal girls. If you make them feel uncomfortable, you aren't going to be able to get good service, chances for REALLY trying to get them out, etc. Plus, you might piss off their gangster boyfriend sitting with 10 of his ex-convict friends sitting behind you. Some places you could get away with it. Di Vang II used to be like that.

As for the cafe's you are seeing in GG / Westminster, probably about 90% are the type of cafe I have described. Usually, the names will be like Cafe Lu, Cafe Di Vang, etc. They should be dark, have a million guys inside, and you should probably see a fair amount of neon inside. They can be dangerous though, as some are exclsive hangouts of a particular gang and may not be 100% friendly to outsiders. Though in reality you would have to try pretty hard to provoke anybody into doing anything. If you DID provoke somebody enough, you don't know what's going to happen. Once you piss off Vietnamese gangsters, you're safety can not be guaranteed.

Cafe Vivid. One plaza South of Di Vang II, and in something of a corner spot. Likewise, there is another cafe in the plaza, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Cafe Di Vang III- On NE Corner of Westminster and Brookhurst in the plaza with the Beauty school and Bo Bai Mon Restaurant.

Cafe Cutie- Harbor and Westminster on the right side in the McDonalds plaza.

Those are probably the top 4 places right now.

There is also.

Cafe La Me- Across the street from Di Vang III next to old torn down Arby's. Sort of hit and miss, but they actually have (had?) a small selection of food available. Also, one of the owners is pretty friendly.

Miss Saigon Cafe- NW Corner of Westminster and Euclid. Hit and miss, perhaps not as many non-vietnamese in there, but it is big enough where nobody would notice / care.

Cafe De Thuong (not Nho'!). SE Corner of Westminster (you see a pattern here?) and Magnolia. Smaller, not always non-viet friendly, but the girls are pretty good.

Folks, I don't know if this is the right place to post this but hopefully it is helpful. Last week I had to go to the bay area, I stayed in Palo Alto and found some time to monger around at night hehe, well, it wasn't that good, I think we are very lucky there are a lot of good AMP's in SoCal and night action is awesome; I am not saying it is bad in the bay area, I don't live there but I couldn't find any information about AMP's or SW's.
