It's strictly business. I've seen it go the other way too when "true love" blossomed and the brides paid no bounty for a marriage that they hope will enhance their immigration status.

Whatever, its all a Hall of Mirrors to be avoided as a general rule. But do what I say not as I do as I'm currently involved in relationships with two immigrants who have student and travel Visas, but not the green card they'll eventually need.

Like all of these meet online sites they let you join for free, but if you want to text or otherwise contact anyone that "likes" you, you have to pay their premium fee to upgrade, usually around $45-$50 per month, and it renews automatically. It is a pain to get it off your account once they have done this. Not worth the aggravation, just for the chance that you might find a gem, IMHO.

I would go one step further that I would recommend never using a credit card to pay for anything. It just leaves a paper trail you don't want coming back to you. Many years ago when I lived in LA, I used to frequent a place that accepted credit cards as payment. I can't remember what they charge it as but it was probably spa services. I always paid cash except for one time when I was broke and horny (never a good combination). A couple of years later they were busted and they got credit card records as part of the investigation. I had left LA by then and was contacted by the LAPD by phone. I had an attorney for some other stuff at the time so before I called them back, I talked to them. His advice was that I couldn't remember the transaction and to stick to that line. I did so and they moved on but others were not as lucky and several traded testifying for the cops in return for not being charged. I assume others were charged. If you have to use a credit card, buy a prepaid at the grocery store and only use if for that reason and then get rid of it. Use it as a burner card.

If I were to guess, they probably were not looking to bust you but instead question you or maybe threaten you to testify against the agency.

I did have a run in with them after that, and they never mentioned it. It was a sting. She had pics of herself when she was a little younger than her 21 years and they got suspicious. They were very disappointed when they saw her ID.

And as for Facebook info I have read accounts of fellow mongers good results for pursuing leads through a SW "Friends". But there again I don't do FB. Makes you easy too trace.
