Heading to the DR Some Time Next Week
Hey all, to most of you I'd seem to be e relatively new but I've been proven already as I've confirmed info as well as passed on some. Anyway, I'm looking for advice on the DR, more specifically Santo Domingo. I'm taking a trip down to SDQ next week. I've never been and I'm sure the woman won't be to hard to find but for you guys that has been down there, any advice?
PM me if you like.
Do GiftCards Work for various Monger sites?
I've been following this thread; I'm in a similar position. It's not that I won't use a credit card (I'm not married so it's not an issue from that perspective) but I've heard / read that many of these sites "Auto-Bill" your card month after month and it's impossible to get them to stop, short of cancelling the card.
If someone has valid experience using an AMEX or VISA / MasterCard branded Gift card. And it WORKED, then I would be interested in hearing about it. That way the auto billing becomes a non-event.
Thoughts Please? Thanks!
I feel your pain man. I would go the gft card route if I were you. Just pay for it in cash at the store and use it when you get home.
Prepaid cards only work with 1 time payments!

OK that's what I needed to know.
There is one site (NOT the other one everyone refers to on this board) that a good friend has had great success with. You can sign up for 30 days using a credit card, but when you Google this web site you read about all of the schmucks that sign up and then can't get the recurring billings to stop. Now I know I could go this route, then challenge the add on charges with my card company (with records of emails I sent requesting cancelation) and get the charges reversed, or even report the charges as fraud and cancel the card and re-issue. BUT that's a ton of hassle and work for one months worth of leads. SO. If a Visa or MasterCard branded prepaid card would work, then that's how I would sign up.
But there are "fees" involved for using those cards (set up fee, re-load fee, and often times a monthly "account management fee". So I am weighing options. The pre-paid might be the most logical, but it would add $10 or $15 bucks to the already steep $40 for a month web site fee. Decisions, Decisions.
