Gold Spa has steadily become greedier and gone downhill over the past several years. It's been discussed on the forum ad nauseam. Your experience is typical of how Gold operates now. Best to stay away from all of the Piedmont Rd AMPs and stick with the Doraville-area AMPs: K Spa, Bally, and Royal.
