Tried to reach a couple that were in Annapolis. Both turned out to be scammers. Edit before I start yelling about deposits: She's fake. Read the actual reviews and comments, multiple screen names saying she's fake. All the positive reviews are written in the same style and say the same thing. Comments section says she's fake.
Asking for a deposit means a provider is scamming, that's it and that's all. We all need to get on board and act the same way: No deposits. NO. DEPOSITS. Getting an outcall and want a gas money deposit? Nope, I'll pay for your Uber. Have your own car? I don't care, still not sending a deposit.
I'm not singling you out, it's just that this issue keeps being brought up time and time again. Either it's an outright scam or "I'd seen her a few times before and she started asking for a deposit so I figured it was ok and oh whoops radio silence goes I'll try again later".
There is nothing that benefits me as a monger if I give a girl a deposit. I don't care about the women, I'm not going to pretend that I do. I'm going to them to get laid. Don't get me wrong, I'm clean, I'm friendly, I tip well and I try and make sure they are comfortable and having fun during a session too. But end of the day, they are there to provide me with a service and nothing more. If I actually "cared" about any of these women, I wouldn't see them. So me giving them any money before I am in the room and made sure we are alone does nothing for me.
Oh it secures my spot? If I say I'm going to be there at 3, and I show up at 3, she should be ready for me at 3. Giving a deposit works against you with junkie logic. Man A and Man B book for 3 o'clock. Man A gives a deposit, Man B doesn't. Man B shows up two minutes earlier than Man A, Man B will be seen first. Why? She already has Man A's money. So instead of sending Man B away and making 100 dollars, she will make 120 for the same amount of time ie 20 from Man A for a deposit and 100 from Man B.
What happens next? "Oh yeah I called and called and waited and waited and an hour later she called me back so I went back. " How many times do we see this behavior here? Again, not calling people out, just being realistic. She fucked dude B for 15 minutes out of his 30, kicked him out, called her dealer, got high and now an hour later MAYBE Man A will get his turn. And then she's going to push for tips and extra money so she can make 120 again instead of 80 since Man A already paid 20 for a deposit.
In the real world a deposit means you're guaranteed access to a product or service, or you get your money back. How does that work here? Your deposit is gone, when she stops answering calls you aren't getting refunds bros. And for people that do pay deposits, do you notice how more often the woman starts trying to rush or upsell, or rates change once you get there? It's because in her eyes she can get money out of you easier than someone else, so she's going to try and do so. She thinks you're a rube.
These women exist to take advantage of men. I know some people will disagree but they survive by taking advantage of men like myself who want a quick nut when they want it and don't want to put in effort to get it. Or men like myself in long term relationships who want some strange. That's the reality, the profession exists to take advantage of men being horny. The mongers aren't forcing women into this line of work, unless you count the demand part of supply and demand leading to sex trafficking.
End of day, these women are businesswomen trying to get as much money out of you for as little work as possible. If they want to do anything and you feel it doesn't benefit you, don't do it. There is nothing about a deposit that works in my favor, so I refuse to pay one. I find a woman who won't ask for one and I fuck her. And if one day they all ask for deposits I will just go to AMPs, strip clubs or jerk off, I won't die if I don't get laid and neither will anyone here.
Tldr: Paying a deposit doesn't benefit me, in fact it works against me. Not paying a despot doesn't harm me in any way, and it doesn't harm the worker in any way despite what she might claim. So it's more beneficial to not pay the deposit.

There's a coterie of silent mongers that will indeed pay those rates so she's got little to potentially gain from someone playing 20 questions with her.
I don't think your "plumber friend"s concerns aren't valid but you have to find an appropriate threshold on sussing out a provider. If no reviews is your hard limit, don't go overboard with questions if the first answer doesn't satisfy.
Would any plumber continue contact with a potential customer that hems and haws about reviews and rates? I know I wouldn't devalue myself like that.
