I was in Houston swiping away and I matched with like this 22 year old. No transgender alarms went off and I think I've got a pretty good trans-dar. She had three pictures and one was actually in a bikini, though her leg was positioned so you couldn't see the crotch. My recollection was that I was pretty excited to be chatting with her because she seemed hot. We chatted a bit and we agreed to meet for sushi. I had to Uber her there because she didn't drive. I was at the bar waiting for her and when she came in I was first a little surprised because she was at least six feet tall and something else seemed off but I didn't know what. Definitely looked striking but I also could tell right away that this was not a woman I wanted to seal the deal with. The pics were real buy expertly staged and selected. She was dressed stylishly--she worked at Victoria's Secret--as I approached her to get seated by the host it started to click. Even thought it was awful at like 105 degrees at 7:00 I suggested we go to one of the outside tables. I didn't want people looking at me. Definitely passed for female but had some of the classic trans attributes. Masculine hands and elbows. Bigger nose. He was wearing these tight camo drop-crotch shorts and a tube top that would look good on a woman but they were obviously drop crotch to avoid showing the dick because that was the only place they weren't tight.

I briefly considered like calling him out or just walking off but I just didn't see the upside to me. The lowest variance outcome was just to order some sushi, get the bill quickly and put this dude back in an Uber.

I didn't ask about details but he clearly had some mental health issues. He had scars from cutting. Talked about some troubles with family and problems in high school but I can't remember what. Had a real interest in plastic surgery (I wonder why?) and talked about that a lot. After about 25 minutes I got the bill and split. It was definitely one of the worst experiences I had in any sort of hobby-adjacent action. I had the idea that this person just really wanted to be seen and validated as a woman and my seeing if he could pass or meet regular men it fulfilled some sort of fantasy or was gratifying in some way. Upsetting and dishonest but I wasn't angry. This guy just had a lot of problems and dealing with a weird scenario from time to time is necessary if you want to not miss out on some good situations too.

I definitely look at pictures now though. Just like if every good photo could also be hiding someone's chubby body, if I see three or four photos that might be strategically hiding male anatomy--Adam's apple, testicles, male waist ratio, male hands, male nose of male joint angles--I don't move forward until I verify that they are not there.
