Thanks for sharing! There's a lot of possibilities at play here. Could of been UC rogue / shady LE that went against standard practices? You never know these days. But really really really unlikely. 0001% chance if you ask me. And yes some are saying it's better to just cut losses and fork the $ over especially since like you said you had work next day. The problem is (I don't post much on here used to read moresoRB but I'm sure you guys had a safety & rules thingy on here at some point as well) You did (even as a senior member) go against a couple golden rules though my brother which done different I don't know if it puts you in the same situation regardless if these 2 blk UC's were legit or really really good scam artists and essentially "scum". (We could debate whether they were real or not all day here).
1- You said they had a badge but did they have handcuffs and ever threaten or say they would cuff you?
2- A Badge # is key as I said before. I know in the moment you didn't think of it.
So one got in your car at carwash and the other followed in their own car?. Is this correct? I mean LE has been bending a lot of rules if you haven't watched the news lately but for the life of me I can't see them being LE. Risking their jobs for $1,400? Last I checked they get paid pretty well. And the fact that they went shopping for 2 hours as you stated with the cash while having you there? (were you in car? Or store with them? This makes 0 sense to me here hmm.) would just be dumb because like someone else stated they would have been on surveillance.

I didn't think that the UC decoys carried guns anyway. She couldn't have hidden one given the tight clothing she was wearing. I am pretty sure this was a scam, but I couldn't afford to take the risk of challenging them. Money can be replaced.
What I am waiting for is for these two con artists to pull this scam on another monger and to see if: 1) they report about it, and 2) how they react to it given that they have info that it is probably a scam. If I had known about this, most likely I would have just driven off without stopping to even talk to her, let alone let her get into my car to discuss business. That was my 1st inclination anyway, but it had been a hard day at work, and the little head got the better of me.
On another note, what a difference a day makes. Yesterday was my last day working, I retired after 37 years. It means that now if I did get arrested, I wouldn't have to worry about losing my license, because I no longer need it, so I might have been more likely to brazen it out with these bitches, actually only the one, because I would never have gotten into their vehicle, if it was a scam I would have retrieved my belongings got dressed and left, and if it was a legit bust I would have left in cuffs in the back of a squad car. I don't know if I would have challenged her but I like to think that I would have.
Whatever the case, will the next victim or intended victim be brave enough to report about it. This helps us all.
