In order to practice Massage Therapy in the State of Tennessee, the Board of Massage Licensure has set up proper guidelines to effectively do so. A minimum of 500 hours from an approved school is essential. The successful completion of the NCBTMB national exam is also needed before the state will issue you a license to practice massage. You may instead elect to take the MBLEx, a new certification exam from the FSMTB. The MBLEx exam is considered an acceptable substitute of the current NCETMB, and some consider it a better measure of a therapist's skills.

I don't have a dog to hunt in this discussion because I don't do massages anymore. However, several years ago I did partake in an occasional massage with a happy ending. I have simply grown up and matured. I got married and got out of the scene a few years ago. I am still just as nice and pleasant to people who treat me the same.
