I never call ahead; never give them my phone number; never give them my name. If they ever get raided and LE gets a hold of their phone, my number won't be there.
There really is no reason to ever call one of these places. The rates are pretty much all the same and they aren't going to give you tip amounts or menu over the phone. They are either busy or they aren't and if you're close, just drive by and see if someone is there.
I've been doing this a quite a while and have lots of visits under my belt, and I can count on one hand the number of times I've been turned away because the place was busy. (Although, there have been quite a few times I've driven by a place and not stopped because the parking lot was "full".

I usually go to diamond or sun, but was wanting to explore new options, as I had a bad experience at diamond the other week.

You never know if you'll get the same person that was a provider there before.
I've been to about 90% of the AMPs in Wichita at one time or another and I have gotten full service more often than not at most places. However, not all providers at a given location will allow full service, and the service varies even with the same provider. I assume their level of comfort with the customer makes a difference.
Look back through previous posts and I'm sure you'll find the answers you are looking for. Or TOFTT and report back.
