This episode is not about the little town in north Texas.
The worst of all with this, is that I am a local guy. I was just in the wrong part of town!?! It's total bullshit, but they couched the whole action like they were concerned that my car might have been stolen... blah blah blah.
Funtongue13 is speaking of the little town in north Texas where his license plate was observed by the vigilantes. He was contacted by the police. He figured they thought he was cruising there. He believes they used the cover of seeing if he would claim his car was stolen.
My post is not related to the town in north Texas. But I had the same thing happen to me in a bit different way, and their concern was really that my car had been stolen. I point out that could have been their concern with Funtongue13 as well. That is a legitimate police thought.
I was stopped leaving a girl's house in my home town, also a small town. I truly believe neither the girl nor her location was under suspicion for anything. It was due to a neighbor's complaint that I parked in an odd way. Well, I did. There was a ditch I had to avoid. Add to this it was late at night and my car did not fit in with the neighborhood. As I learned later the neighbors suspected a drug deal somewhere in their mix and called the police during my date a half block away.
Late at night. Slow activity. Unknowingly, my parked car became the only game in town that night. I was not wise to what was going on a half block away.
So that got the police in the area while she and I were having fun. That also got certain neighbors to stay up late and give a call when I returned to my car and drove off. That explained a police tail I encountered before going two blocks and a police stop as soon as I got a beam of a grocery store parking lot. Suddenly every police car in town was there with headlights spotlighting my car like a night game at Yankee Stadium. Suddenly officers on foot had flashlights shinning all over the inside of my car.
I was not wise to what the officers thought.
The first officer to approach my car did not ask to see my registration, only my license. I thought that strange but based upon what happened later it made sense. They knew who owned the car from the plate. They knew it was properly registered. They were concerned the car was stolen. And they were considering the possibility of a drug deal by the person who stole it.
The officer wanted my license only because he wanted assurance the driver was the registered owner.
Next, the best part, the senior officer came up who I happened to know for 20 years. He told me the concern that the car was stolen and I had attracted neighborhood attention by the way I parked.
Then he asked me what I was doing in that part of town so late at night. I said, "I was seeing a girl." He stepped back suddenly and showed great relief. He said the next time I wanted to see her to not drive my car there, but call him instead and he would drive me there and pick me up when I was done. Imagine the police driving me to a hobby appointment and picking me up. Of course the hobby part was not in the mix to them.
My stomping ground all but dried up:(
Man I have to say the area that I have been rolling for quite some time has just about dried up. Except for one hold out. (large girl always with the wet hair, LOL) tearing down projects always puts a damper on my good time. Oh well the next closest area is hit and miss and I've been running into more and more r. O. B's. One actually dialed 911 in my car cause I offered her 20. I grabbed the phone and threw it out the window (the car was stopped!) she jumped out and keep yelling how "fucked up" that was, Crazy lady! Anyway At least things have improved since derby. But good quality SW is getting slim. I guess there is always portland.
Happy mongering
