Biggest Little town outside of Texas.
I have long been a fan of the little town up north. I have usually followed Jackson's rules, and had never been seen in the company of a girl by our dear uncle LEO.
However, things are heating up. The local vigilantes... on scooters, golfcarts, and bikes; are making thigs much more difficult. They have started collaborating with the cops by writing down the license plate numbers of non-local resident vehicles. They call these in to the station, and a check is ran.
I know that you cannot be charged with a crime for this; however they contated my residence. They asked if we knew that my car was sighted in the bad end of town... known to be frequented by prostitutes and drug dealers. I mumbled out an excuse, and they didn't press the issue. Just good ole-fashioned harrasment.
Very awkward situation! I will not be going back.
Biggest Little town outside of Texas. (Vigilantes)
It's really ridiculous that the cops call your come for simply driving in a bad part of town.
Anybody who reads this will not go back.

The vigilantes have been calling the boys in blue in years when seeing us, which explains why the boys in blue show up when called so quickly even for a small town with only one stoplight.
About a year ago a poster said the town adopted an ordinance against picking up hitchhikers. If nothing else the boys in blue will issue a ticket if they see her get in. But that's not the real problem the town ordinance presents.
It ensures you will get stopped, your license and registration checked, and the vehicle will be looked over for whatever the officer can see in plain view when he looks through the window including what he notices about the girl.
The upside here is you get a ordinance violation for picking her up which the officer saw occur.
The downside: If the girl appears "high" which you didn't notice before she got in, BINGO the officer is going to make her get out. This step won't be a law enforcement action. It will be a health and safety action so you can forget about the constitution while he is on his health and safety mission to take care of her needs.
He will have her get out and make sure she's okay. He's going to separate her from you before he does this. You won't hear the conversation.
It would be a common tactic for officers, after doing the separation thing, to come back and tell you she said you gave her $ for a BBBJ (when she said nothing of the kind), but I don't have to go there with this.
He will ask her what she is on and where she got it. If she thinks he wants her to say she got it from you, well, let's hope she tells the truth.
He will ask her her age but he probably knows it already. Small town. Big problem if that girl is a minor (age 17).
Even bigger problem if the girl, seeing the red lights flashing a block after getting in, starts dumping crap into the floor of your car so it won't be found on her person.
The town is small, the girls are all known. The boys in blue are in a position to see a strange vehicle, recognize her, 2 + 2 + 4, figure she must have been picked up and make a hitchhiking stop when they did not actually see you pick her up.
I'm surprised I haven't seen posts about stops in this fashion having actually occurred.
