Law Enforcement Called Mongers At Home
I agree with everything you said, but I'm confused by the quote above. Are you implying that it was thugs with badges that called people? Or thugs without badges? Because this is not the usual modus operandi of LE, as far as I undertand things. They don't call people on the phone. But scam phone calls from thugs WITHOUT badges, posing as LE, and threatening all kinds of shit, are common place--I get them all the time, for crap totally unrelated to whoring. I just delete them.
Yes, to clarify things. Law Enforcement. This was a long (months) on-going investigation by the FBI and Local LE focused on collecting evidence against the proprietor (pimp) of the website.
Dudes reported on this site that LE called them at home in regard to dating at that motel. Those dudes who were contacted, posted seeking advice on what to do or to offer warning to others.
I am not aware of what is "the usual modus operandi" of any LE, just reporting what happened in this case, fwiw. Perhaps LE is "evolving" or adapting in their styles and techniques? For me, understanding what has been done in the past allows me to evaluate steps that might be taken to reduce risk.
I have heard about dudes getting scam calls by thugs etc. I have had idle threats from girls before trying to extort me. But if one is following the rules, then they are using an app number layered on a burner phone. Seems like the way to get a call from LE at home or on a regular number is:
1) IF LE gets your name / info from vehicle registration or.
2) If one makes a date from a phone registered in your real name.
(am I missing anything else?
I would think an App number allows one to block the thugs attempting a shakedown and that usually ends it. That has worked for me. Just blocking a number. However, IF the scammers get persistent by using different numbers, then I dump the App number & get a new App number. The extreme case is when nefarious types end up with the burner number then it is time to send the phone swimming and start over. Thankfully only had to do that once and I was probably paranoid and over-reacting! Seems like the only "thugs" with enough resources and legality to find you at home would be the Gubmint?
All for what its worth. Stay safe amigos!
Not sure why the truth isn't believed!
Do you have a link or a post number regarding these reports about LE calling people? I realize that our 1st and 4th Amendment rights are becoming a thing of the past. But this business of LE calling people sounds EXTREMELY fishy to me. It seems more likely that these are thugs without badges who got the plate numbers during the motel visit to the hoe, and are trying to extort people. Or maybe even thugs WITH badges who have access to plate number data, also trying to extort people.
Has anyone else ever heard of this business of LE calling people like this? Because I haven't. I would actually like to communicate directly with anybody that got such calls, in order to learn in detail more about this, if it actually happened to them.
Sounds fishy to you? LOL! I dunno, whenever I "think" I know something in the hobby is when it teaches me a lesson! Just because I have never heard of any of this doesn't make it false! But hey if one wishes to operate on that basis, no skin off my teeth! I'm just saying.
Oh wait! It just hit me, someone who is LE friendly would have an interest in dissuading others from paying attention to these techniques and tactics! After all if too many take heed, then LE will have to come up with new techniques!
Maybe what you aren't comprehending is that the FBI was after a PIMP who was running a website. The calls to mongers were not to jam up the monger's for solicitation, but to collect evidence against the pimp. Perhaps there is more of this in the future as Federal Prosecutors build their case and compels testimony of customers captured on tape? Of course, the mongers could lie to Federal Officials and deny sex occurred and then get jammed up when the Pimps go-pro videos prove otherwise? When you have a dude, who picks up girls in one state, drives them across state lines to do "dates", controls when or IF the girls work, takes money from them and in some cases requires them to have video taped sex with him in order to get a job (oh & he posted on his website one video where he was urinating on the girl) me thinks LE is going to use more than a few techniques and resources to get the guy regardless of what anyone has heard!
I don't understand why a dude who is trying to help & add to the conversation as to assist other mongers has to have their veracity challenged. If one studies the background they will see I am taking some level of risk by posting here. I could just say * you and let you continue on with your beliefs which apparently in this case are flawed. Sigh.

WHFT investigation.
I was just contacted by someone claiming they are a detective building a case and wanted to ask me questions. UGHHH I stated I would rather speak with him with a lawyer present and that I would need to verify his credentials. This is fawked!

Since LE reads these threads, any number of LT mongers have disappeared, gone underground or whatever, but no longer post! I suspect more were contacted that a) are not members on this site or b) who thought it prudent to NOT post on the threads that they had been contacted, or perhaps were advised by counsel not to post anymore.
So if one reads the affidavit that LE filed in support of warrants there one can see various LE techniques:
* the use of on-site surveillance of the motel room & pimps house.
* tracking devices on cars.
* access to FaceBook emails.
* access to bank accounts and banking records.
* pole cameras to record pimp & girls coming & going as well as mongers and their license plates.
* a fake prostitute (UCLE / decoy) doing "dates" in an adjacent room to get pimp's interest (it worked).
* traffic stops after dudes completed their dates.
* LE reading posts here on usasg and using those posts as "evidence" in support of the affidavit and.
* the pimp's use of a go-pro camera in the room to record dates!

See Doc 3, the pdf file!
Then dudes reported on the USASG forums that they had been contacted. So everyone is free to draw their own conclusions and take actions or just blow it off as "can't happen here. " One thing I know about the hobby is that it involves some level of risk and everyone is free to make their own evaluation: ignore the risks or take actions to minimize the risks. So in my view the risk exists regardless of whether anyone has heard of it or not. Anyone can parse this and discount it as they wish. Me thinks this is quite sobering information.
Good luck mongering! Stay safe!
Not "Not believed" just questioned without sources

See Doc 3, the pdf file!
You are a long time poster in another state, I started to go through your posts to find links to posts claiming calls from popo but just don't have the time, thank you for links. That request for search warrants was an interesting read. Wonder what made them go after this guy after being around for a decade. Also see why you have a personal interest in the case. Another example of why "agencies" may be a thing of the past.
This conversation should probably be moved to general reports or news / media rather than the BB forum.
