So man, for a Carolinian to come here and complain that our mongering scene is more expensive then in Carolinas is the same as for a Bostonian to go like to Sweden or something and whine that the hobby there comes so much pricier then it was back home. Now as to NY. NY is NY. It's not comparable to any other place in the country. Anywhere from $15-$30 in Flashing or Coney Island (and often good talent at that price too!) to $80-$100 in private apartments to up to $1000 range in Manhattan hotels. Furthermore, if you start negotiating let's say in Russian apartments of Brooklyn you either would quickly find couple of very convincingly looking Ivans on either side of you negotiating you in the wrong direction or you'll end up with a stereotypical looking 'babushka' doing you TLC or both.
