Some complete idiot. I wonder who the escort is at Homestead Studio Suites at 4810 Blue Stone Drive, off Glenwood Avenue. Full story below.
Police: Raleigh man impersonated officer to extort cash from escort.
By Thomasi McDonald. tmcdonald@newsobserver.com
Published in: Wake County. December 20, 2011.
RALEIGH Police say a man used a fake badge and handcuffs to impersonate a police officer and try to extort cash from a woman working as an escort.
Jerry Leander Poe Jr. Of 4408 East Hampton Drive in Raleigh was charged with one count each of impersonating an officer, extortion and second-degree kidnapping, according to a search warrant filed Tuesday at the Wake County Clerk of Courts Office.
Police say the incident occurred Monday in a room at the Homestead Studio Suites at 4810 Blue Stone Drive, off Glenwood Avenue.
The woman told police she was working as an escort when a man called her cell phone at 6:20 a. M. And told her he would stop by her room on his way to work, according to the search warrant.
After she let him into her room, the woman said the man pulled out a badge and handcuffs and asked if she had any drugs. The woman told him no. The man then demanded she pull her pants down and patted her down as if he was an officer, according to the warrant.
The man allowed the woman to pull her pants back up, then asked her 'what would it take for him not to take her downtown, ' according to the warrant. The woman said she did not want to be arrested and would do anything not to be taken downtown.
The man asked her if she had any money. The woman told him she did not have any cash in the room. She said the man told her if she gave him $200 he would not arrest her.
Police say that's when the ploy began to unravel.
The woman called a male friend and told him there was a police officer in her room demanding $200 or he would take her to jail. The woman's friend drove to the hotel and alerted a clerk, who called 911, according to the warrant.
The woman's friend then went to the room and made contact with her.
She ran out and the suspect followed. He showed the woman, her friend and the hotel clerk a badge before announcing he was "going to get his backup" and fled the building, according to the warrant.
The hotel clerk saw the man get into a tan-colored Toyota and wrote down the license number. Police used the number and phone records to identify the suspect as Poe.
Police later found Poe in a white van on Holston Lane in Raleigh. The officers noticed a badge and handcuffs inside the vehicle, according to the warrant.
Police later searched the van and recovered a BB gun, two pairs of handcuffs, a bail enforcement officer badge, pepper spray and a folder that contained bail bond paperwork, court records show.
The police took Poe to the Wake County jail Monday. He was released the same day after posting a $75, 000 bond, a jail spokeswoman reported.

Anyone who doubts the validity of this stuff (and I know a lot of men do) needs to realize how serious the Law and the Community is becoming about child / adult sex trafficking. This is not going away. These are really BAD men who do this. They deserve to go to jail for life.. And if guys get busted playing with these abused and coerced females...they're going to end up in jail too. AND on the Sex Offender List. There's a fun place to be.
There's a huge difference between visiting an adult, professional provider...compared with a girl who is forced, via whatever means, to have sex with you.
If you can't / don't want to recognize it...you're taking one helluva risk.
Backpage girls / pimps, thugs, gangstas and all those low lifes. Way too high a risk.

i don't think it occurs on nearly the scale many organizations and media outlets would lead us to believe. although my experience is not vast, to this day i have only met one provider on backpage who started when she was under 18. there is no law in existence that would have helped her. she and many girls like her (some whose stories are told in news reports, documentaries, papers and so on) would have only benefited from a healthy dose of common sense and education on how to recognize a predator. unlike the girl in the story she ran away from home after being told by a guy she met online that he could help her make 5,000/ day if she worked for him. when i met her 3 years later she had yet to make that kind of money and was currently broke (despite seeing at least 2 clients a day most days of the month). she refused to leave because he really cared for her and because she was waiting for that big payday. in the case of baby face, some responsibility for her situation has to be put on her and her decision to run away. there are tons of organizations that proactively help street children and don't question why they can't go home or won't go into foster care. again, being able to recognize a predator would have helped as well.
i've met a couple of street walkers who started at a young age. the story was always the same. they ran away from home, headed for a rough part of town where they met an older boyfriend and started prostitution for extra cash to hang out. most of them knew that they could get help but were too caught up in the fun lifestyle they had. we make the assumption that 13 and 14 year old girls are too young to understand the impact of their decisions but at that age some level of personal responsibility for their choices has to be taken.
as for the jons, i really don't think the average adult male wants and **** girl. i think that because kids are developing so early these days it can be hard to tell. you slap some make up, high heels and a provocative dress on a lot of 13 year olds and some look 20.
do the current laws help? no. even in the case of immigrants who are told they will be maids or office workers and are then put to work at a strip club or brothel current laws do them no good. if we had a better immigration policy that made it easier for desired labor to enter the country and more costly for illegal workers would not stop the problem but would definitely reduce the scope. although some anti-trafficking organizations disagree i firmly believe that legalized prostitution would also reduce the problem. personally, i would rather go to a local brothel that was fairly priced than call up a girl on backpage or hunt for street walkers. even in terms of independent providers, if they were required to register and have regular health checks or face prosecution if caught working that would keep young girls out of the business. i will admit that a lot of my assumptions depend on the willingness of clients to go through the legal channels, but you can look no further than drug legalization to see that most people prefer to avoid the black market.
this post is worthy of a "like" button.

EDITOR's NOTE: [blue]This report was published with unnecessary HARD RETURNS at the end of every line of text, resulting in the text being incorrectly broken up into separate, incomplete sentences.
There is NO NEED for any report to be written with HARD RETURNS at the end of every line of text.
Solution #1: If you are adding these hard returns at the end of every line by using the ENTER key, then please stop doing that. Instead, simply allow the text to "wrap" automatically at the end of each line when typing. The ENTER key is only needed to separate individual paragraphs.
Solution #2: However, if the unnecessary hard returns were the result of you having pasted the text into the forum from another source (such as a news story), then your option is to either edit out the unnecessary hard returns or don't paste the text.
Please do not post reports with unnecessary hard returns in the Forum. Thanks![/blue]

Hi all mongers. Breaking news, looks like AFF (adult friend finder) has been hacked. See article below. Would suggest steering clear of posting any personal info there or even deleting any you have on it.

Looks like there may be fewer ads on Backpage now. The article makes it sound like Visa and Mastercard have already done this. But what it means is that providers can no longer place ads on backpage. Org with a credit card. The same think happened to CraigsList in 2010.
From the article:
""The unfettered proliferation of websites like Backpage.com has provided this violent industry with a mask of normalcy, driving demand ever higher and increasing the enslavement of prostituted individuals, including children," Dart wrote, alleging that in more than 800 cases where his office responded to Backpage ads, every investigation led to an arrest. "

In a nutshell, a sheriff in Chicago pressured Visa and master Card into denying processing of Backpage Adult ads. He claimed it was aiding illeagle activities and promoting human trafficing. Backpage has now sued him, "alleging that Cook County's Thomas Dart, sheriff of the second largest county in the country, was censoring the company and its customers' right to free speech by pushing for Visa and Mastercard to end their relationships with Backpage. ".
This should be interesting. If Backpage wins, I wonder if Craigs List will bring back Adult Services.

Says she was arrested at her incall location, but not sure what the abbreviations mean. FTA-DWLR NOT IMPAIRED REV.
Actually, found this: Normally it would refer to a license revocation or suspension NOT related to an impaired driving offense.
So that's quite a stretch if they found her at her incall, arrested her, and used that as the pretense.
Note how in this sting, it explains how it unfolded. I believe you have to explicitly state your intentions, more or less. I recall one poster stating here that they heard someone was arrested for just getting out of their car after texting a SP. I doubt it. I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure you have to be caught in the actual exchange of services discussion. If anyone knows more, chime in.

Fail to appear-driving with license revoked.

Here is an article from Wired Magazine Online (a source I trust) that lists several places online you can check to see if you were exposed in the Ashley Madison Hack. Or, I suppose, you can look for your spouse, friends, crappy boss, or bad neighbor who simply won't return the tools he has borrowed.
http://www.wired.com/2015/08/check-loved-one-exposed-ashley-madison-hack/
People have been data mining the data dump from the Ashley Madison hack. It looks like it was one huge scam to separate men from their money. The data set, generally described of representing 37 m accounts, had about 12,000 women users. Of those "users" only 1492 of them actually checked their messages compared to 20 m men.
So it looks like Ashley Madison was a dressed up AFF. Men paying to talk to bots.
http://boingboing.net/2015/08/26/ashley-madison-looks-like-it-w.html
http://abc11.com/news/man-stabbed-when-he-asked-for-money-back-after-sex/955312/
If you had an Ashley Madison account, even if you didn't use your credit card, you may want to consider changing all your passwords on your other accounts. It was widely thought the passwords on Ashley Madison were unbreakable (in a reasonable amount of time) because they used bcrypt to encrypt them. Unfortunately, AM didn't do it correctly and now most of the passwords have been decrypted. OK, so why should you care. Because people are lazy. They tend to use the same password on *all* their online accounts. As hackers have already published usernames and the names of the people behind them. All they need now is the password. Once they have that, it's open season on your Amazon account, email account, back account.
You get the picture.
Of course, I'm sure nobody on *this* board did that. Everyone here has a unique username and password just for this site.
"recruited women and girls as young as 16 years old into prostitution".
"he lured them into his scheme by promising they would be part of a 'family' when they had none".
"kidnapped one of the victims and viciously beat her after she left and reported him to the police".
"used lies to lure vulnerable young women and underage girls into his criminal enterprise".
