Phone number format

I have a question: Is there any good reason why the ladies disguise their phone number with goofy formatting other than to try and keep us from googling them?

Here are some examples of what I'm talking about:
1. 92o-5o5-21o8
2. 9two0-5zero5-two10eight
and the latest one I saw was:
:95 2:26 1: 97 68: [url]http://milwaukee.backpage.com/FemaleEscorts/vv-cute-lil-shorty-vv-21/3305441[/url]

It tells me they have something to hide, usually bad reviews. But I'm curious if I am overlooking something or are they just trying to be clever like naming their adds "hOttiE wIth A biG bOOtiE" another practice that I find annoying? I'm assuming they think it sets them apart from the other ladies, which of course it doesn't.

I think it's like you suggested, to make their number less search-able. I find it to be an annoyance when they spell out any part of their phone number.

It also makes it harder to notice any number changes when they scramble their phone numbers, it takes more than a glance to notice if it's the same familiar set of digits.

It would be nice if the posting guidelines required a phone number to be entered in standard format, e.g. "555-555-1212" before the ad would post, it would eliminate the sillyness.
