With a provocative title (due to as we know here in America none of us would "buy sex" and any legitimate provider would not "sell sex") this film follows both sides, more accurately, 3 or 4 sides, of the issue, in Canada regarding attempting to change Canadian law on the matter.

Also describes what works and does not work in other countries.

Well based on this statement it looks like LE was very thorough on this one and enjoyed the extra services, supposedly given, multiple times before the arrest. I'll say it again in support of the parlor. I've been to WDS many times and never had anything more than a good massage.

http://www.examiner.com/list/report-reveals-strong-correlation-between-backpage-com-and-human-traffickingYes Paige was legit and she was 19, I just got 2 call's from her today. She is a very sweet little girl and has now quit this and moved out of state, but she keep's in contact with me regularly. The first picture of the girl with her face distorted is 21, I also know her personally, me and her has spent the last 2 cold day's together, and yes human trafficking is a big problem in our fair city, and yes Paige had management but we all know what that really is, the other girl has alway's been independent but has been attacked severely by pimp's because she would not work for them. God only know's how bad I hate a PIMP!

Here is an article I just read. It's a few months old, but very scary. I never saw Paige but was interested. Was she legit?

The article quoted is just an opinion blog, with no more "journalism" cred than an about.com entry. The writers there get paid per click, so sensational subject matter makes money.

The story makes several assumptions that would not get past an editor of a "real" media outlet (which are vanishing, I know, but at least they attempt to adhere to some basic standards of conduct).

First, it implies that the majority of sex for pay is trafficking. Trafficking exists, but the blanket statement is an insult to the ranks of smart independent women who make careers of pleasuring others. It's true that many choose escorting as the most lucrative vocation they can find, but that has more to do with low-paying opportunities for women in other fields than any direct "exploitation" .

Second, it asserts that the listing of an age of 18 or 19 as evidence that the providers are much younger. Again, it happens but it's rare; it appears much more common that providers are older than claimed, as evidenced by the escort ad search engines that show all the ads from a particular phone number. Any casual examination shows many providers list more than one age, perhaps as they fine-tune their marketing messages.

Third, the author says that photographs made in cheap hotels are potential evidence of trafficking. Huh? By this logic, pictures made in other settings indicate non-trafficked providers.

Fourth, the copying of random images from Backpage, along with captions such as "The face of human trafficking?, " are pure sensationalism designed to boost page clicks. The writer presents no evidence that the individuals portrayed are involved in trafficking, but now they will stand forever accused.

There's certainly more that we can refute there, but I've rambled enough. The blog tells us nothing, except that this self-professed "Crime & Courts Examiner" has found a way to both decry intimacy for hire, and to make a buck from it herself.

I am including the text of the story below, so that we don't profit the author with additional clicks, After all, that would be exploitation of our crowd.

Report reveals strong correlation between Backpage.com and human trafficking

Human trafficking is a crime garnering more attention for law enforcement officers, as it has become the second largest global industry (drug trafficking a close first). Experts explain many of the persons trafficked end up as escort ads on Backpage.com.

Backpage is an online classifieds website listing nearly anything, from items for sale to jobs. To post an ad, people sign up for an account, provide an email and a phone number for verification, and begin selling. Backpage includes a section, Adult Escorts where some women advertise willingly as prostitutes the advertisements also contain victims of slavery and human trafficking. (Source)

In August of 2011, a Nashville undercover sting operation targeting backpage.com resulted in the rescue of women trafficked from Atlanta (the hub of U.S. human trafficking). One of the kidnappers placed the ads on backpage.com. In 2014, A Tennessee man received 50 years in prison for kidnapping a teenaged girl for the purpose of human trafficking. Part of the evidence that helped convict him was his cell phone, showing the Backpage.com ads he used to prostitute the girl.

According to a 2012 study conducted by Operation Broken Silence and End Slavery Tennessee on Backpage Escort ads:

The age of the average escort was 25, but experts feel the ages are lower, as Backpage has a policy people under 18 may not post for escort services or search the ads.

Of 136 listed area codes in the escort ads, 41% originated from Tennessee.

34% of the overall total of national area codes originated from the 615 area.

Origin area codes outside of Tennessee that appear frequently reveal that commercial sex is moving across state lines into Nashville.

Aside from Tennessee (the most frequent), the #1 state by frequency of area code appearing in adult ads is Georgia.

Backpage is not legally required to regulate the ads.

The sex-purchasing community seeks phrases like barely legal or just turned 18 on the ads. Often, this indicates the girl is a minor.

Girls younger than 18 are not uncommon to Backpage.

2,051 unique ads were posted advertising sex for sale to the Nashville area, an average of just over 22 a day.

The average cost of sex that is purchased through Backpage in Nashville is $154 if in-call (the john travels to the motel) and $216 if out-call (the girl travels to the john).

If the photo in the girl's ad is taken in motel rooms, it is a strong potential sign of trafficking.

The face of human trafficking?

Paige in Nashville lists herself at 19 years old. The age of the average escort on Backpage is 25, but experts feel the ages are lower. Backpage has a policy that people under 18 may not post for escort services. (Photo distorted for privacy)

Well said Jeepster.

The article is mostly nonsense. I read the entire Vanderbilt study yesterday (which I had to Google because the author of the article conveniently failed to properly link the study) and there a lot of assumptions not backed up by any facts, like you mentioned. The first hand accounts of women being mistreated by pimps is heartbreaking, though.

There was an article in Rolling Stone this summer detailing the exaggerated numbers of trafficked women that were working the World Cup. It also mentions how (GASP!) a vast majority of woman work willingly.

If you're interested in reading the article, search "Rolling Stone world cup inside brazils most famous brothel". I cannot seem to link it. A good portion deals with how there's a lot of propaganda out there hoping to paint the industry as one with widespread trafficking (pimping), which is not the opinions of experts who actually study it, including a professor from Williams College. He says there are groups out there with agendas to end prostitution by putting out completely made up information not backed up by facts.

I smell a rat!. Unless Ms Walls happened to be driving in a convertible with the top down on a rainy day with 30 something degree temperatures outside. Either that or I guess the officer got lucky and just happened to get a perfect view through a clear window, yea right, and assumed she looked like a provider on BP. There must of not been much going on in La Vergne and checking out the BP ads was the next best thing to do. And I'm sure he just stumbled upon her and somehow figured there must be drugs involved by virtue of a vehicle registration violation, which somehow meant "we need to find where she is staying!" and search. Think about it people, who here has been pulled over for a registration violation which led to a search of the place you are staying at? I can understand them doing a search of the vehicle but that is usually done when you are in an area known for drugs, not driving on Enterprise Blvd in La Vergne. My point is, someone had to had tipped LEO on them. And to providers who happen to read this, don't overstay at one place too long, people catch on to you, even more so if you are doing drugs.

Providers need to remember to not only make sure all their lights work on their car, but they apparently need a reminder to maintain proper license and registration on the vehicles they operate. But I suppose the drug use makes it easy to forget things like that that come easy to most of us.

Even though the way these females were arrested was questionable, we must not forget some providers will use your donation for evil things. This just shows, that when providers ask for 200+, then to see an outcome like this, to know her secret life, it's kind of bad. Whatever was allegedly found in the room was horrible. And just goes to show you will never know who these providers are in their private life. Makes you think she was only worth 20 to know it was going to the wrong place. Just a though.

Wow, the makeup does wonders! You can tell it's her, or at least seems like it is. But good grief, that is not an "erotic mug shot" by any stretch.

Providers need to remember to not only make sure all their lights work on their car, but they apparently need a reminder to maintain proper license and registration on the vehicles they operate. But I suppose the drug use makes it easy to forget things like that that come easy to most of us.If you want to see how amazing makeup works check out these pictures before and after:

http://wkrn.com/2015/02/25/franklin-police-raid-massage-parlors-for-prostitution/Location is everything, and they straight up picked a horrible location for that one! Next to a busy commercial area and right across from a school? You got to be kidding me!

What I see in many of these reports is "neighbors complaining about unwanted activity" or something of that nature. It's sort of one of those "out of sight, out of mind" type of things. Chances are the less attention these businesses draw to themselves, the less likely they are to draw complaints from their neighbors and thus less likely to get surveilled and raided. Yet the pattern continues.

http://wkrn.com/2015/02/25/franklin-police-raid-massage-parlors-for-prostitution/I went to that Sugartree spa twice and neither time did I get any sexual services. I got a great massage. And if they werent' licensed, they still gave a better massage then Massage Envy.

They got them for patrons acting suspicious. Hopefully the FBI won't come knocking at my door just because I decided to get a massage at lunchtime. They suggest that the patrons might be in trouble. How do they possibly differentiate between who got a massage and got more? Are the fools who were trying to hide their license plates automatically considered guilty? Stay classy Franklin. Way to keep it moral.

Notice also they raided apartments. That's the first I've heard LEO doing that as part of a large scale operation. They check living conditions of workers to help determine if trafficking has occurred. Franklin police raided the home of a spa owner some time back and found several employees living in dormitory-style group housing.

Could that be a possibility that those apartments are also a place of business for them for providing what they call as illegal activities? If there are places like that then how come our uncle knows and not us.

Way to keep it moral.I would surprise if they file any charges against patrons. I mean its too hard to get anything from the license plate or if you paid by credit card for the service. They may never know what happened at that time. I would not go to any location in a busy commercial area just for the reasons you mentioned.

Not Nashville, but something to keep in the back of your head as you are looking out for your own well-being:

Man picks up woman, stops by his house, woman wants to "make it a date" but the guy only has $13 so she stabs him repeatedly in the groin area. Woman leaves, man gets his sister to take him to hospital. Man is not cooperating with detectives and not pressing charges.

-Jeepster1.Thanks, Jeep. I clicked on several of the linked articles from various cities to see what I could find out about the scope of the data that these surveillance devices are able to capture. It looks like they can get data showing what numbers you have called or texted, when, the duration, etc. , as well as tracking the locations of phones they are watching. However, based on what I have read so far (mainly one of the more detailed reports out of Florida), the indications are that they cannot capture the content of calls or texts. They also apparently need to have their devices within a relatively short distance (one article said a mile or so) of phones that they are trying to monitor. It says they work by tricking your phone into thinking their box is a cell tower, so your data is transmitted directly to the box, where it is captured and can then be analyzed.

This is scary, big brother type stuff, but unlikely to be used to target us lowly mongers pursuing our little hobby for fun. Thanks for sharing. We are witnessing the end of privacy as we know it.

Be safe out there, if possible.

Be safe out there, if possible.Misdemeanors wouldn't be the initial target, as every instance of usage I saw in a quick scan of a few articles was for something more major. But there is mention of "mission creep, " because once the tools are in hand these jurisdictions don't have clear policies on limits on their use. Heck, many cities don't even admit they bought a Stingray.

Here's a hypothetical: Franklin's police chief acquires a Stingray, but soon runs out of major crimes where its use is appropriate. Guess what's next: The Trafficking Inquisition!

It might be that the ultimate outcome could come down to a face-off between Williamson County's bluenose social conservatives and its don't-tread-on-me libertarian conservatives.

It is much more difficult for them to get the info. If it is. It is my understanding that they have to get a search warrant and a court order to make the cell company unlock it. This story's a few weeks old, but I don't think it's been mentioned yet.

Nobody should be involved in this life who doesn't want to be. But I do wonder how a 32-year-old "college educated social worker, PTO officer, room mom, United Way volunteer" could naively answer a classified ad, and then Oh Mercy Me! she suddenly finds herself on Backpage through no fault of her own.

But she's starting her own ministry now (according to Twitter), so the victim card always sells well.

-Jeepster1.I'm with you Jeepster, no one should be in this lifestyle if they don't want to be. I could give you my opinion on BP providers and sws but I will stick to this story. Something seems to be missing in this story. How do you go from being a masseuse who "could choose to perform sex acts", not being forced to, and making good money to all of a sudden being pimped? Also, she was a social worker so she had to have had some type of knowledge regarding that lifestyle. I'm not saying she knew everything about it but there is some ongoing training social workers attend on a yearly basis that covers this to some extent. In addition, there is not one single thing mentioned about drugs, unless I missed it, and I would put money on it that there had to have been some type of use. I have seen a few women who got into the lifestyle for a very short period to make some quick money and then they leave. For some reason or another, she crossed over to the deeper dark side of the lifestyle but it's not like she just fell into it. I could say more but I will leave it at that for the moment.

I'm with you Jeepster, no one should be in this lifestyle if they don't want to be. Gentlemen, it is a very interesting story. It is only part of the whole story of some lady's experience in the lifestyle. It sounds like the dark side of the lifestyle. Its not uncommon for the trafficking stories to get lost because they are still running from pimps and influences to keep them doing what returns them money. Yes sometimes drugs are involved but a majority of the time its the money. As the old saying goes " money is the root of all evil". I have had several conversations with a few providers that have come and gone. Some were getting S. S. Disability and needed to supplement and others just loved sex and figured they would get paid for it till getting tied up with the uncle. Its hard to say its just drugs until the whole story is know.

Trust of discretion in the hobby goes both ways. The former provider appears to be going to great lengths to avoid being linked to her past. We all need to honor those wishes.

The Tennessean story is probably intentionally vague or misleading on a number of points. I respect her desire to help others who want out of the life, and she is pretty brave to speak out publicly if she is indeed being pursued in the way the story states.

--We've seen any number of providers charged with Promoting in cases that would not appear to warrant it. It's disconcerting to sees that this provider attempted to get LEO to deal with her pimp but they failed to do so. Selective enforcement?

--It was ultimately clients who helped her exit. One wonders how the writer felt about having to portray mongers in a positive light.

-Jeepster1.The charges of promoting increase bail costs. Which most bail bond companies don't like to take a big chance on someone from out of town. It holds them till court. The writer more than likely didn't look at that aspect of that.

I'm sure many people on this board has at some point helped a provider out. Some more than others.

Its hard to say its just drugs until the whole story is know.No doubt there are several factors / reasons how a provider ends up in the lifestyle, some by choice others not so. I am very well aware of that and that is the reason why I stated in my original post that I would only "stick to this story". At the very least, it's all about choices this educated provider made, some which are obviously not mentioned, and don't forget she had people who offered to help but she chose not to accept. I have heard of mongers offering to help certain providers get out of the lifestyle but for some reason they choose not to accept the help. I could go on and on regarding this topic but that would be a long read.

-Jeepster1.It does not surprise me that LEO failed to deal with her pimp, "selective enforcement" it is. Unfortunately there is too much room for discretion in how LEO goes about enforcing the laws and also pursuing cases. I understand sometimes they don't have the man power but I have seen too many examples of LEO simply just not going out of their way to pursue certain crimes. Be it because they don't have the time, they have no idea who they are looking for, or simply because the person reporting it "deserves what they got" for their involvement in the case. Also, some cases are just not as important as others so they are at the very low end of the totem pole.

Now let's see if I've got this straight:

1. Women who have pimps are considered victims, and get off scot-free.

2. Women who don't have pimps are being classified as mere evil worthless prostitutes, thus are arrested and given permanent records and public shaming in the media.

3. Net result: Women are incentivized to get pimps.

If those in the sex business are innocent victims if they have a pimp (and are thusly spared arrest), while the independent.

Ones are arrested, then why don't we, as mongers, get pimps?

We could claim to be victims. And with pimps handling our 'business arrangements' for us, all the hassles of providing.

References to providers would be eliminated.

Yes, we might need to be availiable to 'service' the ladies at their beckon call. But what a small price to pay.

I'm sure others can provide even other benefits.

Fellow gentlemen of Nashville, The article is about the bad side of the hobby. Any provider that you come in contact with maybe the one that is in the same situation. Guessing about who it is doesn't change the facts of the article. How many reviews mention bf or pimp? Its the bad side of the hobby that the article is bringing to the public. I'm sure that people will continue to guess about who, but it really doesn't matter who but that the dark side of the hobby is being brought to light.

and that the probable cause is as follows:

While police were inside 2525 Elm Hill pike room 303 talking with the co-defendant, the co-defendant gave police verbal consent to search her phone. Inside the phone there was a picture of a male and when asked who he was the co-defendant stated it was her man, Dewayne. From the balcony of the hotel police observed a vehicle with a male white and the co-defendant inside, same male black who was in the picture on the co-defendants phone. Detectives made contact with that vehicle and asked if they knew the woman inside the room. The defendant stated the woman inside the room was his girlfriend. The defendant was read Miranda and under Miranda stated that he and the co-defendant came to Nashville approximately a week prior from South Carolina. The defendant went on to say that while he is away from her, he watches out for her and makes sure she is safe. Furthermore, the defendant was found with several disposable visa cards on his person which is typically used to fund prostitution and the promotion of such. The co-defendant stated that she does not purchase her clothing that it gets paid for by the co-defendant as she spoke in casual conversation with detectives. When detectives asked hotel management for the room records, records showed the defendant paid for the hotel room, the same hotel room in which the co-defendant used to prostitute. The defendant also stated that they came to Tennessee so that they could earn money to pay for procedures that co-defendant needed, consequently, the co-defendant stated that she could earn up to 8000 dollars a week from prostitution. During the search of the vehicle in which the defendant was the front passenger, detectives located a pistol (Kel-Tec P-11 serial number: apt27 with 4 rounds in the magazine) under the drivers seat and a bag of 6 bullets in the glove box. Also located in the vehicle was marijuana in both the front driver door pocket and the rear left passenger door pocket. All subjects under Miranda stated the marijuana was not theirs and the pistol was not theirs. The defendant stated he was a convicted felon for drug charges in 2010 in another state. When detectives ran the defendants history it showed felony charges of cocaine distribution and an entry for board of parole in South Carolina.

-Jeepster1.I go on the deep web often but not for that reason. Its like entering a blackhole. You can find useful information but a lot of bad stuff goes on too. They have a shop like eBay where you can buy guns, drugs, human parts, animal parts, exotic animals, pills, fake money, just about anything.

There is a lot of bad stuff on the deep web such as hitman for hire, women from what I heard and all kinds of sick shit. Be careful when entering it.

-Jeepster1That affidavit reads like a description of the classic pimp stereotype. Drug addict hooks provider and turns her into an addict, keeps her in line with combo of drugs plus threats of violence. Hell, if you look up pimp in the dictionary you might see a picture of this guy. Based on that affidavit it is not surprising that the authorities would view the provider as a victim and try to steer her into treatment instead of jail. Hard to argue, either. Seems like an extreme situation, assuming of course that the affidavit is true. If it is he is a real scumbag.

Disposition: Dismissed Request of State 4/24/2015

". . . . has probable cause to believe that the defendant named above on 04/23/2015 in Davidson County, did intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly engage in prostitution. The probable cause is as follows:

The subject was a known prostitute in a known prostitution area. I made contact with the subject and asked her if she wanted to make some money. She stated yes, but where would we go. I directed her to the Congress motel across the street. She then asked me if I was the police. I stated no and then she searched me for a wire and a gun or anything that would give me away as being the police. During the search she grabbed my genitals and my groin area to prove to her I was not the police. Before I would take her to the room I asked what I could get because I did not have a lot of money. She stated she would not talk about it before we got into the room. she stated she would give me what I wanted and its good.

Nashville sex-trafficking prosecutor fired

"An assistant prosecutor who founded The Hannah Project that helps victims of sex trafficking has been fired from the Nashville District Attorney's office.

Antoinette Welch, well known in Nashville for her work combating human trafficking, said in an email to The Tennessean she found out Sunday via an unsigned, courier-delivered letter she was being terminated.

"I can confirm that she is no longer with the office," said Dorinda Carter, a spokeswoman for District Attorney Glenn Funk. Carter did not know how Welch's departure would impact The Hannah Project, a program that helps prostitutes and victims of trafficking through education and guidance in the court system. Welch started the program in 2011.

Welch's firing is the latest in Funk's overhaul after he took office in September. An analysis of human resources records by The Tennessean found that 17 — now 18 — assistant prosecutors have left the office in the past year, for a variety of reasons.

Most recently to gain media attention was the firing in March of Brian Holmgren, a child abuse prosecutor. Funk would not comment on reasons for that firing, saying his office does not discuss personnel issues.

But the day after Holmgren's last day, Funk announced about 130 child physical and sexual abuse cases had not been acted upon. Some of those cases were in the unit Holmgren supervised.

Funk has made moves to create dedicated prosecution units on key issues, including a beefed-up domestic violence support team. And less than two weeks ago, Funk announced that Welch would be part of new unit dedicated to cracking down on sex trafficking. Those in the unit include Assistant District Attorney Zoe Sams and Assistant District Attorney Vince Wyatt.

"The office continues to be committed to the issue of human trafficking and supporting victims," Carter said.

Welch had worked in the office since 2008. In November she prosecuted a man whose case was believed to be the first conviction of a customer of sex trafficking in the state. That man, Michael Kohlmeyer, was sentenced to 22 years in prison in April.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates. ".

The activity as described is extremely demeaning to the provider. The way I see it, an "entrepreneur" deserves respect. Anyone who does what is described in that affidavit (again, IF it happened like that) deserves no respect, IMHO. Not to mention that it is the exact image that keeps the general public so hateful toward our hobby in general. People are never willing to admit that many of the ladies are in their profession voluntarily, and actually enjoy themselves while they are earning a living. They are the real entrepreneurs here, as I see it.

Just my two cents of course.

Affidavit from late April; BP provider arrested yesterday on this warrant.

". . . . the defendant named above on 04/28/2015 in Davidson County, did intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly engage in prostitution. The probable cause is as follows:

On 04/28/2015 Madison CSU detectives responded to an ad placed on backpage.com under the escort section. Backpage.com is a website known to be used by individuals who place provocative ads for the purposes of promoting prostitution. Detectives had prior knowledge that the defendant had an outstanding warrant in Davidson County and that she had been arrested multiple times for prostitution by Madison CSU detectives. The defendant agreed to meet with an undercover police detective at her hotel room and agreed to half an hour for $150.00. Once detectives arrived at the hotel she was advised that she had an outstanding warrant. Under Miranda the defendant admitted that she was going to have sexual intercourse with the undercover detective for $150.00 and that she had contraband in her room. A consent search of the defendants room yielded approx. 1 gram of heroin and a spoon with burn marks that she advised was used to prepare her heroin for injection."

The defendant came up and got into Det. England’s vehicle. Det. England asked the defendant how much it would cost for her company, to which the defendant stated “I know what the police ask when they are trying to pick up girls.” The defendant stated to Det. England that she was going to search his person and check his ID before they would speak about any kind of sexual acts. The defendant searched Det. England’s person and checked his ID as they drove around, then began to grope Det. England’s genitals as they drove down the street. Det. England again asked how much it would be for oral sex from the defendant to insure that he had enough money and the defendant stated “We will talk about it at my house.” Det. England gave me the take down signal and I took the defendant into custody. During the search of her purse I found two syringes, one glass crack pipe and one metal crack pipe. The defendant was explained her Miranda rights and she stated that she understood them. I asked the defendant if the drug para belonged to her and she stated that the drug para did belong to her. As I was booking the defendant it she stated to me that she did intended to make a prostitution deal with Det. England because she needed the money.

About 65,000.

Approx. 1/2 the size of either M'boro or Clarksville.

About the same size as Franklin.

BB.Hello my Nashville friends. I am from Jackson and post on the Jackson and Memphis boards from time to time. It has dried up here in Jackson. Now that all the ladies have left, it seems that the law enforcement agencies have been posting fake ads on BP to set up guys like us. I am very cautious and rarely meet up with anyone from backpage. I tend to stay away from the escort scene and focus on Massage girls or AMP's. I rarely get to Nashville but make it to Memphis often. I have visited the lady from Bellevue back last fall, the mature hippy lady, nice experience but used a bit to much oil for my taste. It is so hard to get off once it soaks in. Would love to come to your fare city more often just for the variety that is offered but nothing really brings me that way. Happy hunting to all.

Promoting bust, possibly related to a recently-discussed pair of touring providers (one of whom advertised as being Age 18, which seems to draw special scrutiny from LEO).

Not certain, but it appears that the two providers may not have been charged.

The reporting officer has a little trouble with spelling.

. . . the defendant named above on 06/15/2015 in Davidson County, did unlawfully assist prostitues in the furtherance of illegal activities and that the probable cause is as follows:

On 06/15/2015 Officers with the MNPD Vice unit located an ad in the Escort section of Backpage.com. A date was set for a "two girl deal" at 25xx Elm Hill Pike # xx6 in Davidson County. Once inside the room the UC officer made a 30 minute deal for sex with both girls for $220. Both girls were palced in custody by other members of the unit. While in the room there were no signs that the two females were actually staying in that room. There was no luggage, no wallets and no state issued Licenses. The room appeared to have not been lived in at all. The females were Marandized and questioned but did not want to tell officers where their stuff was located. Approxametly 30 minutes after arresting the females hrs there was a knock on the wall from the room next door. We did a knock and talk and spoke to this suspect. I asked if he had anything on his person and he said "no". I did a cursory patdown of his pockets to make sure he didn't possess a weapon. He did not. I said lets go inside the room and talk and we did. On the desk in front of the bed there were two room keys. One was clearly marked xx6 and one marked xx8. There was also a pink bag on th counter that appeared to be from Victoria's Secret. I handcuffed the suspect and read him his Maranda rights. He stated that he understood. I then asked where the girls id's were and he motioned to the purse that was sitting on the bed beside him. I then asked where their luggage was and he motioned to the red piece of luggage on the desk as well as two pieces of luggage in the closet area behing the door. He confessed that both rooms were in his name and that he had driven them to Nashville in his car. He stated that one of the females, xxx, is his girlfriend and the other, xxxxxxxx is like his sister.

Guess that was not a cop (if it's the same girls) but still glad I didn't get involved in that.If indeed the providers weren't charged, some possible reasons would be:

1. They are victims of trafficking.

2. Their testimony is needed to convict their promoter.

3. They have agreed to participate in a sting.

You would think he would have heard all the LEO or "extra traffic" around. Once he knocked on the wall, he was toast. Had he not opened his door, he may have bought himself time but they would have waited on him or forced themselves in eventually; no warrant needed. Without all the info, it's hard to tell what the whole thing is regarding the girls. Were they wiling participants or a form of trafficking? Later on I will share info on a case from a year ago, I just have to make sure not to violate any forum guidelines.

I would had been like you guys were loud so I knocked on wall to ask to quiet down, or any excuse. Really first off I would had never admitted knocking on the wall. But no, they can't search the room because of a knock on the wall. I would have not even answered the door which I can do if I choose and if I did I would had never admitted to knocking on the wall. I would had told them to get a search warrant.

A2Let's see. How many single moms will have hungry children because of attempts to halt provider ads?

A provider's life may not be paradise, but for many smart women it's a viable option when faced with financial hardship.

This is, after all, an activity that is legal in much of the western world. We just happen to be in a nation burdened with the groupthink of our puritan forefathers.

A2OK so I understand the Sheriff wanting to influence the credit card companies to do what he thinks is right. However, what I have to wonder is why in the world did the banks not stop handling these transactions on the adult services section of backpage (and other similar sites) say 4 or 5 years ago? It's not like they didn't know what was going on. And it is not just recently brought to their attention. Considering approximately 9 million in transactions, probably most of them through MasterCard and Visa, that is some major revenue to be made. No, I think something else is pressuring them and the banks figure "better cut our ties sooner rather than later. ".

-Jeepster1.I think the court ruling is spot on. The long arm of the law goes too far in some cases. I can see the reason why they would do so but as the report says, LEO "will still be able to make surprise inspections by getting a warrant". I had seen an old report where LEO simply looked at the guest list and recognized a name, which gave him reason to inspect, because he was sure he would find something illegal going on. LEO has many ways to get what they want, which I am all for as long as it doesn't infringe on people's rights. ESignature.Sounds like an illegal search to me. First, they should not be looking at a guest register without a warrant; and though they are correct many times, just because someone is known to be a drug user, prostitute etc should not be probable cause to make contact. In that case all they would have to do is keep making contact with all known users and providers looking for something to bust them on. I can see them getting a warrant when they suspect x is in the act of illegal activity or they arrested x off premises and need to check their room, but not to search the register to see if they recognize someone. Sounds like a lawsuit against the Inn and metro is in order, but probably those involved don't have the means to do so.

I would think that the records should be private but maybe not. The thing as well is the defendants allow the police to search and look around and they tell on themselves. Why did she even tell the officer she had a pipe in there.

Another trick officers use is "consensual contact ". When a officer says anything to you casually you don't have to answer or even respond and you can even walk away without saying anything. If you do it gives them consensual contact, which mean they can dig further. It is sad those officers don't have anything else to do.

The Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution protects you from unreasonable government searches and seizures. The Ohio Constitution provides similar protections. Depending on the circumstances, those protections may apply when you are confronted by the police. The law generally recognizes three types of interactions with police officers: consensual encounters, investigative detentions, and arrests. The type of encounter you experience significantly impacts your rights and obligations, and in some cases, your criminal prosecution.

Q: What is a consensual encounter?

A: A consensual encounter occurs when a police officer approaches you and engages you in conversation, but you remain free not to answer and to walk away. The encounter remains consensual even if the officer asks you questions, or asks to examine your identification or your belongings, as long as the officer does not suggest that you must comply.

Q: Is a police officer allowed to ask me questions even if I'm not suspected of doing anything illegal?

A: The police do not need "reasonable suspicion" or "probable cause" to start a consensual encounter with a member of the public. A police officer may approach you and ask you questions at any time. However, during such a consensual encounter, you are always free to leave if you no longer wish to talk.

Q: How can I tell if I am having a consensual encounter?

A: When asked to decide if an encounter was consensual, courts will examine whether a reasonable person would have felt free to leave. Courts will consider all of the surrounding circumstances in making that determination. However, because each situation is unique, the line between a consensual encounter and an investigative detention is not always obvious. The situation will determine whether your Fourth Amendment rights are involved.

If you are approached by a police officer, are unsure of the reason, and do not wish to answer any questions, you may ask, "Am I free to leave?" Unless the officer believes he or she has at least "reasonable suspicion" to detain you further, the answer to your question should be "yes. " When in doubt about whether the encounter is consensual, you should ask, "Am I free to leave?" Walking away from a police encounter without giving an explanation, however, is not a good idea.

Q: What about my Fourth Amendment rights?

A: Your Fourth Amendment rights are not at issue if your encounter with police is consensual. However, if a police officer has, by physical force or show of authority, restrained your freedom such that a reasonable person would not feel free to decline the officer's requests or end the encounter, then the encounter is not consensual and the Fourth Amendment applies.

Q: What if the police take my driver's license?

A: A police request to see your identification does not necessarily turn a consensual encounter into an investigative detention, so long as you remain free to decline the request. Furthermore, Ohio courts have held that if a police officer takes and keeps your identification, you have been "seized" under the Fourth Amendment, and you are no longer involved in a consensual encounter.

Q: Must I reveal my personal information during a consensual encounter?

A: No. If an officer asks for your name, address, or date of birth, you are not required to provide it during a consensual encounter. However, if the police have "reasonable suspicion" that you are committing, have committed, or are a witness to a wide range of possible offenses, you may be found guilty of a separate criminal offense if you do not provide that information.

Because it is difficult to know whether an officer has the required "reasonable suspicion," you may want to provide your name, address, or date of birth if asked. However, you are not required to provide any other information. Also, if your age or date of birth is an element of an offense that you are suspected of having committed, such as underage drinking, you are not required to provide that information.

Q: Must the police read me my "Miranda rights" during a consensual encounter?

A: No. Police officers do not have to read you your "Miranda rights" during a consensual encounter. However, whether you are informed of your "Miranda rights" is not a reliable indicator of the type of interaction you are having with the police.

Q: Does this mean that I should not talk to the police?

A: No, but understanding the bounds of the government's authority when interacting with the police is always important. Finally, when in doubt about the situation, simply ask, "Am I free to leave?" The answer to that basic question will have an important impact on your rights.

This makes me massively cranky. I don't rely on BP, but I don't think it's anyone's place to bully credit card companies into harming the women (and families) who rely on it.

For the curious, I blogged about it here: http://sashanashville.callgirlfiles.com/blog/what-sheriff-tom-dart-s-bullyi.Nice piece of writing coming from someone with a different POV. I guess the sheriff and those in charge didn't give a lot of thought to everyone who would be affected by it.

A2Or another provider or angry monger posting personal info about a provider. That is exactly what is going on (as I post this) with a well known blonde provider from Nashville. The ad keeps getting taken down but a new one pops up soon after. I can't tell if it's an actual warning that she may be working with LEO or some bs. Let the mudslinging begin.

Fellow mongers, pass the word to legit providers about the USA Adult Classifieds. Most likely BP will close down, but if it doesn't, it will become just like CL if you know what I mean.

Myself, it's one of those things you don't know for sure someone is real until you get beyond the initial contact and eventually meet them if that ever happens. Like most sites, there's probably some real and some fake. From my experience, I believe it is a step or 2 above sites like Horny Matches where most all of the profiles are fake or bots. Seriously, those sites, you can be carrying on a conversation with who you think it's a girl and it's liable to be some dude in Indonesia just trying to get you to maintain your monthly membership. STATE OF TENNESSEE, COUNTY OF DAVIDSON.

AFFIDAVIT.

Prostitution- Promoting.

39-13-515.

Personally appeared before me, the undersigned, (Select one) _x_ Commissioner _ Metropolitan General Sessions Judge, the prosecutor named above and made oath in due form of law that (Select one)) _ he _x_ she (Select one) _x_ personally observed _ has probable cause to believe that the defendant named above on 05/21/2015 in Davidson County, did unlawfully promote prostitution and that the probable cause is as follows:

The defendant contacted an undercover detective who was posing as a prostitute during an undercover operation by text and phone calls. The defendant sent several pictures of himself and stated he wanted to talk in person about business opportunities through backpage.com. The defendant came to the undercover detective's hotel room and stated he wanted to go into a business partnership. He offered to help the undercover detective by raising the prices of prostitution ads, providing security of the room during in-call appointments and providing security and transportation for out-call appointments. He stated he would collect all of the money that is given to the undercover detective from the "Johns" after every appointment. He stated he would allow the undercover detective to buy small things if she worked hard. He stated the undercover detective would be required to make at least $800-$1000 a night for him. He stated he would provide hotel rooms and any condoms or lubrication needed for the appointments. He also stated there are consequences for getting lazy and he does not allow his girls to do so. Shortly after the defendant stated he was ready to start doing business with the undercover detective, he was arrested for promoting prostitution.

Another senior sent me some info and asked for help in posting about a local provider. She's currently visiting her uncle after a recent street bust for Aggravated Prostitution. For those who aren't aware, that's a charge reserved for providers with HIV.

I'm walking a very fine line here on what is allowed in this forum regarding accusations of STD's, and also of arrest records. If I understand correctly, STD allegations must be verifiable by public government records. The links provided to local government websites confirm that this person has been recently tested and is HIV-positive.

The links do also contain arrest data, but that is incidental to the included confirmation of her infection status. I have never met this provider, or previously heard of her, and have no axe to grind. I am posting so that those she has put in harm's way can seek testing and be certain of their own safety.

Male escorts aren't given the same leeway as women. There's always the "we can save her" crowd ready to cleanse female providers of their evil predilections.

Don't want to rant (wrong forum) but it's easier for LEO to bash gays than straights.

Very good reason to be using an app instead of a phone. Most of the Apps use VOIP for voice calls which is encrypted. Eavesdroppers shouldn't be able to listen in and can't tell what # you are calling or even that you are on a call at all.

Forget Stingrays? Jugulars and Wolfhounds are cheaper:

Maybe this is what App meant. Gays now are on a roll and if they can show that some pols rented these "boys," perhaps it will be the beginning of a chain reaction. A consensus builds where pols say, "Ahh, it's too much trouble fighting with the gays, let 'them be. " Then some regular hos sue for equal treatment. About the time I croak, we'll have it all legal. Maybe we can shoot that final wad legally and mention that at the pearly gates.

Thanks for the link. NY Times Editorial Board openly blasts prosecutors' priorities, saying that trying to take down a website that had operated in plain view for almost 20 years was an odd choice.

Meanwhile, a domestic ISIS plot is probably being overlooked because Homeland Security diverted budget funds to combat blowjobs.

Makes you think when traveling to foreign countries for play.He has been an information source for much of the Caribbean, CR, and Columbia. Has Youtube stuff in the USA And is kind of like Brockton O'Toole for Tijuana information. Truly scary that his expected duration in jail before trial is longer than any sentence he could get for what he is to be charged with given that it is only some vague internet new law in CR.

Franklin PD is rarely quiet about its grand accomplishments.

They also routinely over-charge individuals with the Promoting statute; they'll do anything to hike the bond on an out-of-towner.

You'd think he has a burner phone or something. But not the government issued phone. But it's wonderful to know that the Mayor is "taking full responsibility" for his actions and he isn't going to "throw anybody under the bus. ".

If you're the mayor, you should be using better judgement in your hobbying.

If you're the mayor, you should be using better judgement in your hobbying. He probably dint call the escort or maybe he did but escorts use throw away virtual numbers. So maybe he was calling somebody on craigslist to buy a item which some sellers uses virtual numbers then the seller got rid of the number then a escort picked it up and started using it. So by the time the news got ahold of the numbers and searched the number the escort ad shows up.

Atleast that should had been his excuse and fully believable especially if the number is a virtual number which could be easily checked to see so.

So is it safe to make a trip to Nashville. As long as you are cautious and meet up with safe friends, like some of us here in this forum, you should be ok. In addition, don't draw a lot of attention to yourself or where you are staying; don't stay at one place too long; avoid the low end hotels. If possible, stay at a hotel where entrance to the room is from the inside as this does not give LEO easy view from outside.

Some of us here have met you before, we would love to see you again, I know I would. Be safe!

G.Very seriously doubt that will happen. Way to many condos and apartments being bulit. The gulch redevelopment has scooped up a lot of the old spots. Showtime is a mixed retail buliding now. The next push will be Miranda when the division street connector is done. The powers to be are slowly but surely pushing the adult industry out.
