Supply and demand, much like groceries, or lumber. When the demand exceeds the supply, the suppliers feel they can charge what they want. The best part of this is, if needed, we can take matters into our own hands until the demand drops, or the supply increases. Not ideal, but also not going to get robbed either.
Is anyone else running into providers with GPS lately? I took a break from the hobby for a while, but have been dipping a toe back in recently. I'm not going to use your schedule times for reference. I'll just give you my thoughts on the subject of scheduling and will use hotel to reference both hotels and motels. I prefer morning dates. However, at hotels that can be difficult since that's when housekeeping is around (from 0700-1500, roughly). I've often asked when trying to schedule a morning date, "Has housekeeping been to your room yet?" I've been with providers many times around check out or later where there's been a knock on the door with a request by hotel management to "Pay for the room or you have to get out". However, in the morning from 0700-1000, if they're in a hotel where there are a lot of travelers, then it is easy to just blend in with the increased foot traffic. The same is true between 1500-2000, since that's when travelers are arriving. If you visit a hotel between about 11-1500, then your car may be the only one in the parking lot so you will definitely look out of place, potentially. Also, after 1530, you have workers returning from their jobs. Traveling workers will roll in on a Monday afternoon and leave Friday morning. I was once one of those travelers. Again, you can just blend in.
Private homes are best between 0900 and about 1500 on the weekdays since most everyone else in the area will be at work or school. Just drive to any apartment complex at around 1200 on a Monday and then return to the same place at 2000 and you will definitely see a difference. Private residences after dark can be dangerous (IMHO), again due to there being many more people around including fellow inhabitants of the providers place. In essence, whatever time you meet, do your best to blend in and act like you're supposed to be there. I'll often ask if the provider would like something from the store.
