Hollywood PD started testing cameras along their high stroll traffic areas. Many cities in other states use these cameras to harass the johns, since they're the ones with the money and don't live in the stroll area so its easier to notice once they get your tag info. NYPD has cameras everywhere and Miami PD is starting a camera program. Since this system does work its only a matter of time when the police departments finds budget money to install these cameras in the high crime / traffic areas or apply for federal grants to pay for these systems.

In the beginning the tag readers on the cop cars were used just to find owners with warrants, stolen cars, expired tags. They were looking for crimes taking place. Now they are data collecting and trying to tie vehicles to crimes based on time. They are also using the data from the stationary cameras to see if you drive up and down the same road, example dixie so it shows them you are looking for hookers or drugs.

This is why I stayed away from hollywood for a while. They had a camera installed on a traffic light so when you drove past it a couples times in a short amount of time they'd know where to send the unmark cars.

The only thing keep these cameras from going up all over is cost of install and servers to collect and sort the data.

They just have to plug the video in to the program and run it which takes a while. It compares the picture of the suspect with the picture of everyone that's ever had a driver's license. I moved from south Florida a year ago. I only got pulled over once and it was in Hollywood in January of 2014. I made an illegal you turn and got pulled over.
