I went about things slightly differently in that I parked at PedWest and walked across the bridge myself. So aside from everything up to McDonald's, other than that, I did everything that Stl Danish said. Follow their advice and you cannot go wrong.

I carried no bags, but the Mexican border agent did search me anyway. He also asked me how much money I had on me, but that was the extent of it. That took maybe three or four minutes? Also, another one was taking pictures with his phone. That was weird but whatever.

Definitely ignore the guys with the taxis right as soon as you walk out into TJ. You want the ones to the right.

When I got to HK, there was no line. Security was definitely thorough.

Google Translate will be your friend so don't be afraid to use it if you aren't fluent in Spanish.

One more thing: for getting back to the border from Hong Kong, print out the coupon from their website for using their shuttle. No VIP membership is needed. It saved me a lot of time and probablu headache not needing to find a taxi that wasn't shady as fuck. I just tipped the driver a bit as a courtesy and matter of principle.

If you do not care about saving every last penny, the taxis right as you walk out are very reliable and will take you to HK for $10 and be happy. On Saturday night they might try to charge you a little more, just confirm the price before you get in. If you really want to save a little money on taxi, walk along the sidewalk to the right for about a block and you will come to the place the taxi's drop people off who are returning to the border. These taxis will then go get in the taxi line and wait up to an hour to get their next fare from the people arriving. They are thrilled to not wait in that line and pick you up at the drop-off location and give you a bargain. Often they will do it for $5 because it saves them waiting in the taxi line. I always pay them at least 7 when I do that, even if they only want 5. I would not walk it, I do not consider it entirely safe and $10 does not matter to me at all.

You can always ride the HK shuttle for free ($2 tip) and it picks up near the same drop_off location you get the cheap taxi's. It will likely take you 15 minutes longer to get there as they wait to fill it and drive slow. Again, I usually just pay the 10. Coming back I take the free shuttle. No need to print out the coupon, it is free for everybody. Just go up to the podium outside the club and say you need the shuttle. Also, I trust the taxi's, just always ask the price before you get in. The orange ones and green ones are both very reliable. If I am in a hurry I grab a taxi in front of HK. Other than a taxi charging me too ich when I forget to ask price in advance, I have never had a problem with a taxi and I have rode in a taxi there at least 500 times over the years. I go to all sorts of other places, mostly restaurants and dance clubs.

You'll have to Uber or Lyft your way back to SD if you're coming back at 2 am.

I hadn't been in a couple of years, my takeaways from this visit were:

Hong Kong still has the hottest putas and was busy when I got there at 8:30, but by 10:00 it was so packed you couldn't get a seat and it was too hot for me.

Tropical was less crowded, had a decent selection a few that did not meet my standards offset by a few diamonds in the rough, but my lack of Spanish made it a challenge to communicate with the girls I talked to.

Chicago was busy and had girls many of whom were close to on par with Hong King's offerings. Spent a great hour in a booth right next to the jacuzzi show making out with a hot little thing from Mexico City, but ended up very surprised when she eventually told me she doesn't go arriba.

-Gump.It's very important to understand how much this varies by day of the week and time. If you arrive in the around 8 or 9 pm or later on Sunday through Thursday, parking is cheaper. When you cross, the person at the border will ask you for your passport and how long you'll be staying, he might have you fill out a form. So, I'm assuming you'll be bringing in luggage, so pack light, you will have to run that through an x-ray machine. Once you cross the border, use their designated shuttle (they will bring you to Calle Coahuila and then back to the border when needed), it's basically free but you should tip the driver a dollar, it's expected without said. With that said, everything is cash over there, so expect to tip a lot for anything.

Booking a hotel is fine, my friends do it all the time. From memory, when you book a room, there is no deposit, so it's first come first serve.

Do not do drugs, do not buy drugs, and do not get drunk. I would drink but do not get blacked out drunk. Alcohol would give you whiskey dick, so it would defeat the purpose. Even though the club is almost the safest place in all of Tijuana, do keep your wits about you. Be situationally aware, be street smart.

Now keep walking, you'll pass an x-ray machine for people with bags. You don't have a bag, so just walk on through. There will be some National Guard / Army guys with AR-15's. That is normal, welcome to Mexico. Keep walking on the path. You literally cannot fuck this up. Now you're outside the building and there will be some street vendor people, musicians, whatever. Ignore them. Now you go through another turnstile that puts you out on the street.

Now you're really in TJ and you'll be hit up for taxi, taxi, taxi by dudes right there. Ignore them, they're shady. But off to the right, about 20 yards away is the actual taxi queue, just walk over there and tell them you want to go to Hong Kong. They may ask you for $10 (which is INSANE. It's like a mile away, LOL) but really, who cares? You can also Uber, but I'm going for ease here, not optimizations.

The taxi will take you right to Hong Kong. Your taxi driver will probably speak some basic English and will probably be a nice guy. Get out and walk to the front door of Hong Kong like a normal strip club patron. You'll get frisked and patted down, don't bring weapons, your own drinks, or drugs. Duh. It's fine.

Now you're inside. Walk around and take in the spectacle. Don't sit down right away. Get a feel for the club, realize there's at least two levels open and maybe a third if it's a busy night. Now get a beer from the bar or a waiter. Beers (for you) should be $5 and the bartender or waiter will be happy with a $1 tip. How you go for here is up to you, but I enjoy getting a seat at the back stage and tipping the girls. Especially if they are doing a foam show. They'll likely ask what you were doing in Mexico. Tacos and beers naturally, and how long you were there. Just for the evening. And whatever else they feel like asking. Don't bring back drugs or anything else, and you'll have zero issues.

Now you may have to Uber back to the Palm Ave trolley lot or something, but presumably you are comfortable navigating this part. The trolley only runs till midnight or so.

There are other considerations than safety. The line to go back will be much shorter better 10 pm and 3 am. You save more than an hour of waiting. Parking is cheaper. There will be a lot of hot girls during these hours and more importantly, it won't be as crowded with dudes.

After crossing I always take the shuttle to and from HK. If it's your first time taking the shuttle, wait for some else that is taking the shuttle too before walking to the waiting area because that walk can be kind of sketchy. Once you are ready to go back to the border, go to the table outside of HK and let them know you want to go back to the border (or la linea). I usually cross between 330-430 am and there is no line getting back on Friday or Saturday night. Sunday into Monday is a different story. After 3 am there is a line 3 miles long, no joke. I have global entry so I can skip the lines. I would highly recommend getting GE before going, but if you don't then get back before 3 am on a weekday. Last thing is the USA Customs agents coming back in. They will harass you about what you did in Mexico, just tell them you were out on vacation and wanted to visit Mexico. Whatever you do, keep all your answers short! All these agents are assholes and are looking for a reason to take you to the back and strip search you LOL.

Then once you had your prefilled fmm you then had to go to see a second agent which meant waiting in line again. This agent would ask how long your stay was, make you sign, and then finally tear off the bottom and you were on your way. It required waiting twice to see an agent and then the bottleneck with a single agent with printer that could fill the fmm. This continued until about Saturday afternoon, at that point they stopped. Checking documents all together.

However I think it was a bit of a rough start to the new system, because Saturday night they again were checking _all_ for documents however this time they had about 5 agents all with printers and it was a single stop, you go to the first available agent, hand your passport, they scan it and prefill the fmm and then give you your copy right there and its done, no more signature on the fmm even. So it went by pretty smooth.

It also means you need to have your passport, for you guys that refuse that get even the $65 card and just kept paying the $20 bribe (which has stopped although I heard reports sometimes they'd like you for $30) then you may want to consider driving in.

I actually turned around to leave, but a gentleman in the line saw that I didn't have any personal items and said to head straight to the turnstile and go through to the US checkpoint. It's even worse than trying to get back to the USA without a sentri card.

P.S. Took me 40 minutes to get thru.I think people are confusing the USA vs the Mexican side. The issue I experienced was on the USA side trying to get into Mexico, not vice-versa. I went to HK last weekend and thankfully there was no line to get into Mexico. Ironically, while I was crossing over into Mexico, there were PLENTY of border security personnel while entering into Mexico. Where was security the night they decided to check identification for everyone? I am sure if they'd been there, it would have helped keep tempers down and made things more orderly.

Both USA Citizens and foreign nationals (tourists and those associated with the many foreign owned factories in TJ). Not an issue.

I don't know if the escorts get many Asian customers, but I suppose they get some.

TJ is a reasonably large city and there are even Asians living there full time, plus the tourists.

If it's your first time I would skip the agencies and just do HK personally, for the huge variety and you can see the girl before you end up being stuck with her, but that's just me.

Tijuana is a border city, the busiest intl land crossing in the US and fourth busiest in the world. The place is flooded with Americans and has been for at least 100 years (gringos have been coming at least since prohibition days), you won't stick out in the slightest (in the red light district especially), gringos are crawling all over speaking English and they're white, black, Indian, Asian, etc. Etc. Etc.

I think cumintj and Mexico lindo bar are about the only agencies that have US numbers, all the rest you'll communicate through whatsapp so yes get whatsapp, if you meet any girls at the clubs who want to give you their number then whatsapp is also the only option. If you don't want to use your personal number you can use google voice and register with that number on whatsapp. Agencies also use telegram (an app).

As a complete newbie its honestly just easier to stick to HK club your first time, the ladies will literally take you by the hand through the whole process and they are all used to using google translate. Stay at the Cascadas hotel or rizo, both are owned by the HK group and HK girls can only go to those hotels while on shift, Cascadas is right next door and rizo is across the street, you walk with the girl from the club to the hotel. If you don't book an HK affiliated hotel then you will be paying $40 for a short term room (30 min) every single you go up with a girl, if you have your own room you only pay for the girl and not the room each time. This will be staying right in the red light district. Now with that said most the escort agency girls won't go to the red light district (indepedent escorts often will though) but your first time HK is probably enough, you can also go to Tropical bar across the street as its also HK affiliated and you can take girls there to the same hotels.

Enjoy. That said be mindful, $300 is not a lot of money when seeing bar girls. Girls are asking for $150, you can often negotiate a bit to $120, at tropical perhaps even $100, but be prepared to receive a 'default' opening offer of $150 particularly at HK. Last but not least, I kind of want the TJ experience. I've been to Bangkok and Pattaya in my younger days and it was a blast. This is probably the closest to that experience in the US.

You can get by without pesos at all. I only spend pesos on taxi from the border and on water bottles in convenience stores. Everything else is either card or USD. Exchanges before the crossing on US side are all fair.

All clubs rent rooms short-term. HK is $40 afaik, Chicago $20. I don't think said MP makes any particular sense.

When I leave the hotel at 9 am, I am at the gate at 11. That's trolley to Middletown, then rental car shuttle. Uber from the border will probably be even faster.

I recommend taking free limo to HK. Once you are out of the border crossing, you will see a taxi stand, turn right and walk few seconds to the colorful pavilion on the side of the parking lot, it has a sign Zona Shuttle or something along these lines. Go inside and just say Zona Norte or Cascadas. The staff will take care of you. Same way back to the border.

Crossing back can be a little difficult first time. There likely be a long line of people, you need to walk forward along the line until you see a dedicated Sentri pedestrian line right of the main line, you cross the main line and walk to the border in this dedicated line. Rest should be easy.

It varies a lot depending on the day. This why I recommend you use bordertaffi.com app. You can view it for free if you register. Choose San Ysidro, & pedestrian & then camera #2. This shows the end of the pedestrian line. Sometimes the line extends to the end of street. If the line is that backed up. Then it is probably a hour to 1-1/2 hour. I recommend monitoring several hours before. This give you a general idea how long the wait is. General idea how long the wait time is. The CPB has their own border wait time site. But it is inaccurate. There is also Pedwest. The downside is that you walk across the pedestrian bridge to. Catch the trolley. It only takes 30 minutes to reach America plaza (located by Santa Fe depot).

I Ther is also a free airport shuttle bus that runs every 15 minutes.

I take it you mean walking, right? I went a couple of weeks ago on a Tuesday and came back around 5 pm. It took me around 45 minutes to get thru. I don't have sentry, if you do it's prolly 5 minutes since there's no line.

For years San Diegans have gone to the TJ bakeries and brought goodies back. I once bought a burrito at one of the shops along the sidewalk leading to the San Ysidro pedestrian crossing. Chomped on it all the way through customs and no one raised an eyebrow.

I live in SD but frequent Tijuana every week and actually went to college in Tijuana. I have many friends that are white as well as Mexicans so it pains me to see this happen. By nature, Mexicans are very tolerant and inviting friendly people, but many Mexican nationals are seeing the hate they get from Trump and Maga world and the influx of expats going into Mexico to live and therefore raising the prices of housing and overall cost of living in those cities only adds to the frustration what Mexican nationals are going through. They have had enough and with the new President of Mexico making this known and defending it's people publicly, gives them more reason to stand there ground and further have a lack of respect for "gringos". I do hope this tension between our nations diminishes with time, but it is hard to say, especially if Maga world keeps disrespecting Mexicans and latinos. First time down at TJ and I got to say I had a blast. I've read through this thread and the International TJ forum and made use of the pointers and tips I've received.

I've parked my rental at the boarder parking, which was kinda pricey ($54) for 30 hrs. But it would have cost around that much for an uber ride back and forth. Crossing the US to Mexico border was a breeze, but it was kinda hectic once I got across. All the Taxi drivers hustling hard and after 5 minutes of not finding the HK shuttle, I just said fuck it and hopped into a taxi for $10.

Got the HK around 2 pm, checked in and went down to HK. There were quite a bit of girls but it didn't seem like the A-team. Saw one of hotter ones and bought her a drink. She spoke very little english and we didn't hit it off like I've hoped. Asked about the upstairs cost and was quoted $140, which is a bit higher than I wanted, plus she was the first girl that sat down for a drink. I've been there during weekdays during the afternoon and I recognized hot girls from night shifts, since some night shift girls start in the afternoon anyway. HK always has hot girls there, no matter time of day. It's pretty much how it is at night but more relaxed, less people, pretty chill. The issue is you will not see as many girls generally speaking, hot or not, but also especially less 10's. There will still be hot girls though and I've noticed prices are cheaper during the day, I've had the same girls quote me higher prices at night than during the day.

My issue with your plan is purely personal preference but I wouldn't pop my HK cherry with a weekday afternoon shift. I still vividly remember being very young and going there for the first time, walking through the curtains and finally witnessing the Holy Land. It's truly amazing and mindblowing the first time. You get the full experience at night with the sheer number of hot girls and everyone else there partying, the shows, the drinking, all of it. If I were your friend, I'd insist you wait until a weekend night. But if you have no other option, you won't be disappointed anyway. Just my advice.

Shakedowns are not a myth. I. have personally been shook down by the police and almost all of my friends who used to frequent TJ, were shook down by police. Best advice, don't drive! They see American plates, you're almost guaranteed to get pulled over and robbed by police. Never visit an ATM with the police in line of sight. Sometimes they hide near by and wait for Americans to use it and put you against their car when you leave.The shakedowns are the worst right before Christmas.

There is always an increase in police presence during the holidays for multiple reasons.

Non-municipal law enforcement forces flood the border region during the holidays, this can include federal police, state police, treasury, etc. Their official duties are enforcement and protection and they have authority to set up stops on streets all over TJ. They primarily set up around highly trafficked commercial areas or in higher end residential neighborhoods. Most of the officers have basically won or inherited their privilege to come to TJ from places around the country because they get to pad their wallets by citing enforcement of laws and regulations that normally aren't enforced. It's basically a windfall for them because employers in Mexico are required to provide their workers with an annual Christmas bonus called an aguinaldo. On top of that, they know many residents in TJ also earn dollars on this side of the border. Lastly, they can confiscate items that were bought in the US as Christmas gifts that should have paid a duty but people crossed without declaring and paying the duty on. Basically, it's early 1900's NYPD earning their "bonus" in a couple of weeks.

They began turning away lots of foreigners who only had driver's licenses and not allowing for the $20 bribe. That said its slightly relaxed, late at night they still usually wave everyone through but they are occasionally turning others back and I hear its hit and miss with the $20 day fee. I've witnessed them turn people back as recently as the week before Christmas / new years.

You can roll the dice or drive in (no document checks driving). Other options are also crossing at otay instead of san ysidro or using pedwest crossing if not too late (pedwest is not 24/7). So far they are still waving everyone through at the other crossings.

1st time staying in Hotel Rizo and I recommend over Cascadas. Slight inconvenience it being across the street, but Cheaper and more chill than Cascadas.

Quality of rooms is same if not better + they've had a elevator issue in Cascadas the last 3 times I've visited.

Rizo's workers are also more chill and lenient on the women staying beyond set hour or given time, in Cascadas they don't play and knock tirelessly once time is up.

Weekdays are cool for those wondering, don't prefer hunting in the club when its jam packed with dudes LOL. I highly suggest taking contacts of women you have chemistry with, goes a long way with the experience Plus they can just go straight to your room with just a text.

When walking back, you will get into the empty lane to the right hugging the businesses, you will likely walk all the way to the front and pass everyone waiting in the normal lane. Be ready to show your GE card at the front to the guards. Then walk up to building, stay right and use the GE booths on the right. Once you get to the border, you'll be back in the US in no more than 10 minutes.

And, yes, there are always girls there. Not always the highest of 10's during the day, but also not as expensive. It's a trade but not a bad one.
