Finally, I've come up with a running soundly enough clunker to do the mongering thing without any qualms. The key is to find an insurance salvage title car and drive with non titled vehicle tags. The cops can't even do anything with a pink titled car other than sell it for scrap. With this car they can pull me, but I ain't signing no tickets or nothing. They can give me three hots and a cot for all of their victimless crime shit all they want, but they won't even be able to pay the tow truck driver with the scrap money they get for my car let alone garner any further revenue at gunpoint. I've been with this rig for a few months now, and although several cops have come up behind me at stop lights etc, none have pulled me for the outdated tags.
A lot of this may have to do with my mongering being done after the pound is overflowing with DWI busts. I try to do all of my mongering on early Thursday, Friday, and Saturday mornings. Sundays and Mondays are also good days, because the jails and the pound is so packed from the weekend. Actually, the notel row in between Woodward and Oltorf along Parker and IH 35 seem to never let up. I've been seeing fresh faces there for over three months in a row now. Whenever you see ten fuzz cars lit up and piled up in the Notel 6 parking lot that's the time to go. As a matter of fact, such a moment enabled me to pick up a WSW / HSW named Sonya on Royal Hill a few weeks back.

Soco is far from being dead, only the pickings are fresher at a 4 to 5 scale. I've spotted at least two everyday, around 4 or 5 in the afternoon. For one reason or the other I always miss the catch. Maybe this will help the newcomers to Austin, and this will enable me to expedite on my PM's to that end. SoCo is an abbreviation for South Congress Avenue, the main prostitution venue in Austin over the years. Find it on the map and cruise the entire perimeter from Lamar, William Cannon, Pleasant Valley to downtown (DT). The streets in DT are arranged from east to west according to the rivers that flow through Texas. Say you want an SW on Sixth Street, your best bet is to look around the police station and soup lines around the streets named after the rivers in East Texas. This is where all of the riff raff congregates along with their dope peddling support units. Although cop presence is intense, there is no revenue for bar association to be made from this mass, so they are pretty much left unmolested. As I've mentioned repeatedly, the puss on these girls is far cheaper but just as good or better than any of the commercial P4 P. Proper hygiene procedures, dating back to ancient history, seem to serve me better than the ten ply condom safe sex route as well. Opportunity in that regard seems to be more prevalent with the SW's than with their equally downtrodden counterparts in the massage parlors, call ups, and strip clubs etc.
Although I hear a lot about Rick's, being good, up in Round Rock, Williamsom County is the strictest, although most heavily taxed county in Texas. About the best thing to do, during this short break, before the summer semester begins, is to check out Sixth Street. I go down to watch the kids have fun all of the time. Thanks for summarizing the best SW locations, Humpty Dumpty. I should have done more research before posting my question as I eventually found most of these reading through old posts. Still, this is a great summary and I will use it as guide during my visit.
When you say that it's a "waste of time," do you mean that there's no good action? Is it dead out there? If that's the case, where would be the best of these locations to focus my efforts? I've got a few days in town with a mostly free schedule and thought I'd do some unabated mongering, an opportunity which does not often present itself.

One thing, that has kept the fuzz off my ass, is that I do my crusing in a clunker to old and worn out to bring APD any police auction revenue. After paying Southside's driver his wages to steal it for them, the only thing they could do with it is pull it across the CMC's scales for seven cents a pound. Anyhow, my house is in the Onion Creek subdivision, and for the sake of wanting to keep my P4 P home turf only, I never have to cruise any further than Ben White and Manchaca for SW pick ups. As a matter of fact, more strolling goes on around William Cannon and SoCo than the traditional SoCo and Oltorf or any of that Pleasant Valley stuff. My clunker breaks down completely, I'm within an hour's walk to my house for my PU with a tow bar.
Those, who really live in Austin, are able to keep up with the news well enough to know what's going down around the original strolls. Apartments on William Cannon are still habitable and cheap enough, so the SW / dope peddling riff raff comes to this part of town next. All one has to do is count the number of dope rehab half way houses all along Slaughter and Brodie not to mention the methadone clinic directly in the vicinity of Manchaca / Ben White. Here, recently, more tramps have been camping out under this bridge than at the ARC downtown. Seems like the police are piling up on tramps and SW's at the bus stops around South Congress and William Cannon as well as the HEB parking lot at South First and William Cannon more than they ever have done in any of the traditional strolling areas of South Congress and Oltorf or Rundburg and IH35.
All of this is not to mention, how those so seemingly well versed in what the SW scene may have been like five or ten years ago in Austin, aren't even aware of the recent police cameras and monitoring in the Rundburg / Powell areas. I'm being told that the police pull people over up there now for driving down the same street twice. Of course, this excludes the residents of the neighborhood. Scary enough that they have them so well monitored. Although I've rented notel rooms up there etc, it was pointless with the amount of SW action going on, now, in deep South Austin. With the economy the way it is now, finding amateur SW's shouldn't be much of a chore at all anymore. Spent 3 days mongering in Austin in August. Spent the first day scouring these areas as recommended by Humpty Dumpty:

- 35 access road from Woodward to Oltorf is a huge hit or miss.

What time of day or night did you scope things out?
Decided to check out most of these while I stuck around for a week. Figured an update was needed, this is what I found:
- The Rundberg area is really busy but mainly around Wonsley and Georgian from Anderson on up to Rundberg. Heavy LEO though.
- Lamar is pretty much empty.
- St Johns is active mainly near the Cameron area with some diversity. It nice as there's very little traffic and not once did I see LEO.
-12th has some light activity but very calm, saw ambulances drive by, but no LEO. Actually picked up a WSW for bbj around Pleasant Vee.
- Burton has action, but very busy and the ladies don't get too much room.
- 35 access road from Woodward to Oltorf is a huge hit or miss.
- Parker around royal is also a huge hit or miss.
All in all if I go back I'd be going along 12th and St. Johns areas more often for some peaceful mongering.

I thought there would be a whole lot more ORGANIZED CRIME, as of the recent Waco travesty of law, but this does not seem to yet be the case. I've been figuring that APD is going to start pulling everybody, that makes as many as two Indy laps on Frontage Road and Middle Fiskville; steal their car, and lock 'them up for ORGANIZED CRIME set at a million dollar bond. By the time the Grand Jury no bill's 'them and they get to Probable Cause hearings, they will have already had their cars police auctioned away.

Have they moved Central Booking back to the police station? For the longest it has been with County Jail at 12th and Guadalupe. Prostitution stings are expensive to do right and they are even more expensive to prosecute because prostitution stings come down to a "crime of words" and little to no physical evidence. So the prosecutors try to play a game of chicken with the accused but for those that have good lawyers and are not willing to bend the prosecutors almost always dismiss the cases after about a year from the the arrest date. It is really joke how the system works. The last TCSO sting, almost all the misdemeanor prostitution arrest got ultimately dismissed.
That brings up another topic. There is not just just APD out there but also TCSO and Texas DPS. The latter two love running prostitution stings when money gets thrown their way.

The Austin City Council has not passed anything that would alter the APD funding for the current fiscal year. The department has been underfunded for several years, long predating the "Defund the Police" debate. The Academy has not been allowed to hold new recruit classes for a year or so, not for budgetary reasons, but because of concerns by the City Council and many community leaders that the the curriculum and training materials were outdated and promoted racist or discriminatory attitudes (largely true, as has been acknowledged by APD leadership). The curriculum is currently being reviewed and revised to satisfy these concerns. Once the curriculum has been revised, academy classes will be resumed. This has been covered extensively in the media. As for reallocation of resources (reductions in the motorcycle patrols, etc.) the long-term budgetary issues, the suspension of academy classes, retirements, transfers, attrition, and the pandemic have all left APD short-staffed. Many officers have been reassigned, some temporarily, some permanently, to try and maintain services as best they can. This has also been covered extensively by the media. None of this has anything to do with defunding the police. The Council has taken no actions yet. They're still bickering, er, I mean debating the issue. The Governor and the legislature have also bloviated and debated bills to prevent / punish any such efforts. No one knows how this will ultimately play out.

My own personal experiences with my SW regulars getting busted was that they were picked up for prostitution yet booked for drugs. Not only that but they both went back to strolling until both met their untimely deaths without anymore brushes with the cops.
With my own Class B Misdemeanor bust in 1995, the very same happened. Every attorney, I called, wanted $3000.00 plus $750 for the fine up front. With misdemeanors everything is a done said deal. The cops have already done 95% of what Perry Mason and other Hollywood attorneys would try to get one to believe about repudiating established evidence. Once one is handcuffed and put into the back seat of that unit, it's a done said deal as to the cop having established enough evidence to bust.
I certainly came out ahead doing a few weeks time served over paying off lawyer trash. To my surprise my SW cruising clunker / beater was still sitting in the DPS parking lot, where I had left it, before being hauled off to jail. I couldn't agree, the streets are dead. I was very disappointed in my roaming around, with the lack of talent walking around on the north side. I tried all times of day.

I am very cautious now days due to the new Texas felony law, but I was out cruising and the only action I saw was in the Georgian Acres area, and St Johns and Grand Canyon area. Both areas are well known to Johnny Law and the selection that was out there was not worth it. As far areas that were use to full of action, back in the day, but now dead are Burton, Ceasar Chavez, and South Congress.
Over-gentrification has almost eliminated the street scene, it appears. Any ladies on 12th anymore? I always preferred Burton, Cesar Chavez and 12th to Rundberg and Powell. So I'm visiting from Dallas & decided to see what Austin has to offer in the way of the blade. I caught wind of a spot called Georgian Acres and decided to check it out tonight. I promptly wished I hadn't. I was surprised to see this was just a residential neighborhood. I saw zero police presence but there were maybe only 4 girls milling about on Georgian Dr. Weren't dressed like SW as I'd normal expect. Just dressed more like. Broke hoes in regular clothes.
