This thread doesn't get much action lately. Not sure why other than, perhaps, we have all realized that CL's personals have become not much more than a cesspool for spammers. Nonetheless, I still browse through occasionally. Whether to actually find something or for an entertaining laugh / waste of time.
Posting, for your consideration, are my CL thoughts and experiences.
The vast majority of CL personal's posts are either 1) agencies (at best) or 2) scum-sucking email address-gathering spammers (at worst). Either / both are usually easy to spot. But not always. I Google, use tineye, read reviews, et al, and, still, I often get tricked by some the most REAL sounding posts!
Firstly (basic info101 for most) , if you reply to a CL ad via email make sure you use an "alternative" email address. Once you reply expect your mail box to be full of all sorts of spam for months to come!
Next, completely disregard (or better yet, flag as "spam / overpost") the ads which do not include a legitimate location (such as "Las Vegas"). IMO "legitimate locations" do NOT include "Northwest," "Paradise," "Winchester," and many other generic "locations." Disregard them.
There *are* a very few legitimate diamonds still posting on CL. Based on my recent experience (and as another posted a few pages back in this thread) the legit ones post an ad for a short time. And then take it down. Don't cruise the ads days or weeks old and expect to find something / someone real. As are many things in life, being in the right place at the right time is the magical key.
These are my years-long thoughts about CL's personals in a nutshell. Feel free to add your own.
Lastly, personals aside, CL is still a great place to say, sell a used car or advertise a garage sale. Just not a *gem* of a place to find a "relationship."

You're right about the location thing except when it comes to direction. Saying N, S, E, or W, or NE, SE, etc does not make the ad fake like Paradise or Winchester would. I would say that directions are OK. They may even be a good sign that it's a Las Vegas local posting.

I do this because I need the money, I take care of both my niece and her 6 month-old son. I have 2 jobs, and that is why I'm not always available. I don't ignore all emails once I've gotten enough cash for "whatever her drug of choice is," I just can't possibly respond to every single fucking email I get. That would take me forever. And yes, once I've come up with the amount of money I need at the moment and / or I've run out of free time to do this, I stop bothering responding to every email because 9 out of 10 of them don't come through anyway.
