So I head for the room and she calls me as soon as I step in the elevator and ask 's if I've left the money, I said no and she hangs up, I knock on the door and no answer and she calls me and said if I don't do as she say's --"No Hanging out". I respond "just open the door , say hello so I can see your for real and in the room and then I'll go to the desk, she refuses and said "your playing games with me" she hangs up. I leave with my $200 in my pocket,feeling good that I didn't get scammed, I can always get laid but if I get conned it will eat me up.

What I find most interesting about your post, is that she had me leave the envelope marked "Katie Williams 526". Apparently she does include creativity when choosing an alias and fake room number when she scams.
It still sickens me to think I was scammed, but I feel fortunate that things get worse. Live and learn.

It seems like escorts have made the switch to Backpage since this winter's change in policy for Craigslist. There seems to only be about a dozen providers on Tampa's Craigslist, who post a couple times a day. If you can't kill the old habbit of using Craigslist, then I suggest that you at least improve the experience a little by trying out a couple Firefox plugins.
First, download Greasemonkey for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748/
Greasemonkey is basically a Firefox plugin that enables you to run smaller plugins (scripts). It has it's own community and website where you can download those smaller plugins at userscripts.org (http://userscripts.org).

Next you will want to find and install a couple scripts to enhance your monger browsing experience. I suggest that you start out with these 2 plugins:
1. Craigslist image preview (http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/74962). This will insert images into the category pages for Craigslist, making it easy to spot the ads for girls that are actually attractive and not obvious fakes (like the ever so popular Kate's Playground ripoffs). This plugin isn't 100% effective. Sometimes you won't get it to load any images at all, sometimes a few post images will be missing.
2. Backpage image preview (http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/68389). This does basically the same thing as the Craigslist image preview, but for backpage.com. Backpage offers a "full" view that shows entire ads, including images, so this feature is less useful than the Craigslist counterpart. I still use it because the "full" view makes it tougher to scroll through the hundreds of ads.

The news media has an axe to grind with CL. Remember, they were the tralblazing pioneers who allowed the public a free venue for something they were accustomed to paying newspapers to post. Now people get there news on the internet for free and advertise for a lot less than the newspapers charged for their tiny little ads. They hate the internet and especially hate craigslist.
