COVINA - Two prostitution stings Wednesday night led to the arrests of two women after they allegedly solicited a decoy police officer for lewd acts, authorities said.
Shui Mai Liu, 52, of Monterey Park was booked on suspicion of soliciting a lewd act at CP Acupuncture Health Center in the 1200 block of San Bernadino Road. Vonny Ng, 51, of West Covina was booked on suspicion of unlawful acts at Healthy Acupuncture in the 200 block of West College Street, authorities said.
Covina police Lt. Tim Doonan said an officer became suspicious of the first location after noticing late-night activity around the acupuncture business.
"We sent a decoy officer in and the officer was solicited for (a lewd act)," he said.
Doonan said citizens' complaints about late-evening activity around the College Street site prompted the second sting.
"When people are working late they really don't want to deal with the problems and clientele these places bring," he said.
The decoy was allegedly solicited by Ng after entering this site as well, he said.
Both businesses, he said, were advertised online as legitimate acupuncture offices, "but there were also overtones in the advertisement that would indicate more."
He said police do not believe there is a connection between the two locations, and added the city will be sending code enforcement personnel to follow up on various violations.

Both places don't seem to be as busy lately. Maybe we are all visiting less and exercising more caution.

As the title suggest, I TOFTT this past Wednesday. Found an ad in the LA Weekly (new to me) and headed for Whittier/La Mirada border area. This place is on Imperial Highway near Leffingwell. It's in a shopping center with lagre permanent signage. Hmmm, that's a sign. As I entered I noticed the place is well decorated with expensive finishes. There's another sign. After a few seconds Juline came to the front to greet me. She asked how long. I said one hour and gave her $60. I asked who was working. She said me. She escorted me down the hall and into a room. Again it was well decorated. There's another sign. She told me to get undressed and she would be right in. I did and shortly afterward she came in.
Right away she put a towel on my back. I said no towel but she said it was required. She started to give me a massage. Several times I tried moving the towel off but she quickly put it back. After the flip it was the same thing. The towel must stay on. Once the hour was up she asked if I wanted another half hour. She said I would be very happy. Well, in for a penny in for a pound. I bought in for another half hour for $40. Same thing. No roaming or happy ending. Oh well. I have to admit it was one of the best massages I ever received but it was dissapointing.

Out of stater landing at Hilton in San Gabriel ... weirded out by all these foot massage places. RTFF to see that they all seem legit. Also saw big newspaper article pasted up from a major paper about the competition with these places. There must be 10-20 within a mile of my hotel. Apparently, competition is so fierce that prices have dropped by 2/3. Kind of weird scene, but I guess if you believe foot massage is the way to good health, then go for it.
Foot massages have dropped, at some hours to $7.99 per hour (which is really about a 20-min foot soak and a 40-min foot massage.) A lot of them will offer a 1-hour clothed non-private back/leg massage for $15/hour now. And the prices continue to drop.
Too bad AMP prices haven't fallen like that!

A sting last December netted 40 prostitution-related arrests. Soon, the CP Acupuncture Health Center in Covina will be shut down after a police sting led to a prostitution arrest of a Monterey Park woman. Another business also targeted surrendered its business license.
Prostitution operations have popped up behind legitimate services for acupuncture and massages. The misnamed "victimless" crime schemes often are run by gangs or organized crime. More sophisticated operations involve human trafficking of women who are brought to the United States against their will or to pay off a debt. These operations not only exploit women, make a mockery of freedom, but they taint our good neighborhoods and can lower property values.
Of course, we are not so naive to believe we can ever be totally rid of this scourge. But as a means to that end, cities must examine all business license applications for massage businesses, spas or acupuncture centers with a fine-tooth comb. Stopping illegal operations from gaining a foothold is easier than rooting out those after they've become established.

out "soft cities," those with lackadaisical rules. For massage or acupuncture technicians, cities should require a high level of training from reputable colleges. The cities of Azusa, Pasadena and Glendora are on the right track by instituting moratoriums on future massage therapy businesses. Azusa, the latest to do so, was acting responsibly by calling for the time out after receiving more than the usual number of applications for spas and massage places. Azusa PD recently approved two new massage business permit applications, and in the last few weeks received three more.
"These types of establishments are on the rise in the San Gabriel Valley, so we just want to make sure we have proper processes in place," said Azusa police Capt. Sam Gonzalez.
Second, police agencies can consult with the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's vice unit for added expertise. Last, they can call in state labor code enforcers if they suspect a business is involved in prostitution. Labor code inspectors can cite a business for not paying into Workers Compensation or Social Security or for violating overtime laws, for example.
Cities and the county must not relent in stopping crooks from establishing such footholds. Even if it is the oldest trick in the book.

Okay fellow Mongers, although I have been Mongering for a while now, I still haven't said too much. So here's my story (a bit long):
Finally got my raise at work, so I decided to treat myself today. Saw an MP while going to work. It's located on Rosemead Blvd, just south on Del Mar Blvd. Went in, paid. 6 for hr. City Council members this week placed a 45-day moratorium on all new license applications for businesses that supply massages as a secondary service - such as spas, acupuncturists and chiropractors. Arcadia also will stop issuing new licenses to massage therapists.
The ban could be extended for up to one year.
Tuesday's council action came after Arcadia police reported on a series of inspections officers made at massage therapy businesses launched this past May.
Police said they found code violations at more than 30 locations they visited. Although no prostitution-related arrests were made, officers saw enough to believe it is ongoing at some businesses, Arcadia Police Department Chief Robert Sanderson said.
"There were a couple locations where, as we approached the front door, one of the customers went running out the back," he told City Council members.
Sanderson also singled out a Web site where users share information about sexual acts performed by massage therapists. The site contained reviews for 110 therapists in Arcadia, he said.

the past three years, the city has handed out some 700 licenses for massage therapy. Recently, applications have risen to an average of two to four per day. Of those, Sanderson believes, only 10 percent were for legitimate therapists.
Officials said a moratorium on new ones will give them time to study the issue.
Ultimately, the council could approve stricter licensing standards for message therapists and additional conditional use permit requirements.
Cynthia Leath, an assistant manager at Urban Retreats, a day spa with 16 massage therapists, said she supports the ban on new licenses.
"It's keeping the ones that are legit open without other businesses that are doing illegal stuff going up and making us look bad," she said.
But Leath also fears the ban will hurt her spa's business.
"Not everybody stays," she said. "So if they go, then our staff goes down, and we just expanded our business, so our clientele has gone up a lot."
Winnie Zhang, manager of Magic Hands Spa, said she has heard rumors about prostitution at massage businesses. Her business is legitimate, she said, and she supports the ban.
"It's a good thing. A lot of people do massages and don't have licenses," she said. "I don't think it will affect our business."
Although the ban applies to all new massage therapist licenses - even legitimate therapists - the city needed to take sweeping action in order to stay ahead of a rapidly growing problem, City Manager Don Penman said.
"There could be a legitimate massage therapist that comes in and gets caught in the trap," said Penman. "That's just unfortunate. But it would be too difficult to go through the process of screening - that may be one of the recommendations, that we have to have our own screening process."

Arcadia was getting ridiculous with too many mp's (like foot massage places in San Gabriel). In Arcadia, there is not supposed to be mp's. Massage is not supposed to be a primary business so how the hell does a factory like Urban Retreat qualify? Also, how does Urban Retreat employ 16, when you are, by law, only allowed to have 2 masseuses at any given time.

I get there, find the place inside a building, finally someone answers the door walk in for a half hour. So far everything looks good. I tried this place based on this review and my experience wasn't as pleasant. First, the place is hard to find. I didn't get a good vibe from the place from the very start, should have trusted my instincts. Went in, got the hour. I don't think I had Nancy since my provider was at least in the early to mid 30's. She had a decent bod, so I was hopeful at this point. The massage was very good and I can't complain about that. Dollar for dollar, you're not going to find anything that beats Coco's special 120 half hour. She's twenty less than the industry average of 140 for the half; doesn't matter if whether we're talking AAMP or AMP. Everything else goes up from there. You'll find the typical "sweet spot" to be around 150 for the half to 200 for the hour. If you're willing to pay 250 for the hour, you should be getting grk, rim, cim, and/or cimws. I don't get how some of you guys are willing to pay 400 for the hour. DDG or not, there's no way I would feel right dropping 4 bills for my jollies. And if you think going to an AMP, paying the 40 door fee, and 80 tip after receiving full service is a good way to get started, then you obviously haven't had enough ladies say "Fuck you asshole" in Korean to you.

I took Cash Value's advice and decided to check out the one on DM (with a red banner advertising $30/hr and steam/shower). It just takes some time for everyone to know you and vice versa, like any other fraternity.

The big clue is there was NO aquarium (unless I totally overlooked it, but I think I would've noticed a dirty-ass one. Haha. It was on the second floor. The entrance is nice and secluded because it is on the opposite side of the plaza that doesn't face the parking lot of a chain discount store. If you're at the major intersection that I hinted at, it's visible when you're looking towards the southeast corner. The name of the spa is visible, but the entrance is actually on the opposite side of the building. I had to walk all the way around to figure it out.

BenderYou are right, Bender. They seem to be very scared now. I went back to the same place again. This time a different therapist who was older.
I thought I wasn't going to get a similar experience like last time. She was great at the therapeutic massage. Slightly different technique, and still a great relaxing massage. She seemed to spend a lot of time on the back and butt area, slowing down to massage the cheeks pretty good. Later while still on my stomach, she brushed against the boys a few times, and I usually start raising my butt up a little to show my approval and give her better access. She said, "you like? " and I said yes. She went to a lighter pressure that we're all familiar with, and she obliged by starting to lightly massage the twins! She did this for a few minutes while I was enjoying it, and I kept waiting for more to happen, but nothing. Your right. They are embarrassed by the density of mp's in their city. Not only has LE stepped up, but a lot of places are getting hassled in renewing their business licenses.
This is a town where massage cannot be the primary business...but massage service is allowed as one of their secondary services. Also, they are not supposed to have more than two masseuses working at any given time. They have a moratorium of licensing new masseuses so if one quits, they pretty much cannot replace them. Not even sure someone could even sell their business right now.
And with the general slowdown due to the economy, they are deciding that the bigger money from extras (from new customers) is simply not worth the hassle and prospect of losing their investment in their business.

I'm guessing nobody has anything new to say about any of the cheap massage places? I rotate between Pacific and LS for the cheap ones. Only cause they do a great massage. There are to places just north of valley blvd on san gabriel blvd. I have been to the one on the corner about 4 blocks up. Was good but really no privacy. Really none, curtain small room 5 feet away from 10 ladies getting foot massage. 4th time I was there was funny cause she said in english to stop touching her ass and to stop grabbing my cock.
