I have had yahoo and gmail both and have never had a problem with sending or receiving messages on either. Messages do occasionally but NOT often end up in my spam folder in gmail but I've learned to check it before I do final delete.
I think it really depends more on your server and not necessarily your mail account.

In fact, the Gmail messages that get bounced back to the sender who happens to be using Yahoo! clearly state that their e-mail is suspected as spam, even though they are responding to YOUR request for more information in their ad. Also, any e-mail with reference to Craigslist will often be bounced back if sent to Gmail as well.
You can search this issue on any search engine on these issues and find plenty of complaints from other people. The conflicts between Yahoo!, Hotmail, and Gmail have been going on for more than ten years and they still do not seem to have resolved it.

Again, not all the time but could escape insensitive tests.
