Principle aside, $40 isn't horrible. The usual rip off is the $200 agency "show up fee" and an uninvited visit from Brutus or his brother Bruno. Hey, you saved $160!! Treat yourself to a nice dinner out with your "savings!
Apart from stolen $20,000+ watches, unsecured cash, and laptops just plain gone, worst story I've heard in the last year was $1. 8 for an HJ. Ya I'm repeating myself here, but it could have been much worse!!
I think Dianne / Renee has truly earned lots of extra bookings!! And we all know life gets in the way at times. Cancellations come with the hobbying territory. On both sides. Darn. Hypothetically, had I paid a deposit, and then received word that the funds were not received, I would have sent her a screenshot of proof the money was sent. More importantly, I would've asked the gal for proof she DID NOT receive the Zelle!! Any BS response about her concern for privacy in her banking info and I would've encouraged her to black out whatever personal info she felt concerned about.
These "ladies" ruin it for all the decent, honest people in The Hobby!!

Lots of visitors to Vegas around the holidays. Just saw the word / name "Banks" in one of these threads and it reminded me of this super helpful post from June 2022! Thought I would bump the post (thank you ShaolinSword) to help the newbies & tourists out. Only tip I can think to add is the obvious one: never NEVER EVER pay a deposit!

This is a excellent set of rules.Some people on the board choose to criticize, though when you have been ripped off enough, you learn to make hard rules. Also you learn what to look for to keep yourself safe from harm or so you don't have to deal with drama. Personally, I don't want to deal with those situations.

It takes them about one minute to complete this task. You tell your new lady that you are Whitelisted on TER. Also if you have a hobbyist name / handle on other sites, when seeking company from a new (new to you) lady, give her that name too, in your introductory correspondence. This SHOULD help you avoid invasive screening!

You can pay a deposit or just ignore that provider and move on. However this is such a clandestine hobby and I'd guess that for every guy here on USA, there are probably 100+ that cannot or will not ever join a site like this. That being said, if every person here who has in the past and still does pay deposits stopped, it's not going to change their deposit policy. Remember, they wouldn't be doing it if nobody was paying.
I posted about this before, deposits are simple for me. I will never pay a deposit for an unverified provider. I will if she has multiple reviews on different, trustworthy sites or I've received info from a friend or someone here who is reliable. The very first time I paid a deposit I got scammed because she was a great salesperson. That was the last time and I've probably paid a deposit 10 times over the years using my simple "no reviews / reference, no deposit" approach and the "deposit required" provider is usually towards the end of my to do list. I've passed on several that I found out later were totally legit but as with anything in dealing with the hobby, you have to be smart and careful. One way to avoid deposits is to offer to pay for lyft / uber if you are doing an outcall. That way at least I know two things. She will show up and she won't be getting dropped off by management who is lurking somewhere on my street. I've also found that providers that uber / lyft will stay longer and will have a drink or two with you.

Watch out for posts where the lady is holding a phone #, presumably hers. Here's why:
