Only wishing her the best and support is defiately needed but I read somewhere that support included patronizing her so she could come up with a deposit for a place to live, that may sound sensible to you and I but that aint support, that's enabling her, don't be her enalbler, giving her money at this point would only delay what is really needed and unfortunately what is really needed is some serious pain in her life, pains of all forms, emotional, physical and spiritual and hopefully that pain is so great that it will catch her attention and keep her attention so that she never ever wants to go to that place again, for some they die before they can be blessed with that unbearable and unimaginable pain, they do not one day wake up in the morning and suddenly realize life had become a little uncomfortable and I'll stop using and live happily ever after. I understand how you feel, we all know what she is like sober and any friend would wish and hope for exactly what you've written, what I think is not understood is this; she has an addiction, I have an addiction, this addiction is a disease that like some forms of cancer is incurable, the only way to treat this disease is total cessation of your drug of choice. If the addict has come to this total cessation, she now has the power of choice, but once she ingest her drug of choice, she no longer has this power of choice, the disease is now active. I understand how you feel, we all know what she is like sober and any friend would wish and hope for exactly what you've written, what I think is not understood is this; she has an addiction, I have an addiction, this addiction is a disease that like some forms of cancer is incurable, the only way to treat this disease is total cessation of your drug of choice. If the addict has come to this total cessation, she now has the power of choice, but once she ingest her drug of choice, she no longer has this power of choice, the disease is now active. I will say this and that's the last of this topic I will speak of, I agree lets move on cause this is her buisness and no one else's in the end. I suggest that she needs a phone because I don't think she has anything at this point. What follows, is my opinion, and I'm not saying it is what everyone should accept or agree with.
I believe that if someone wants to seek help, find shelter, get emergency medical care, or get support from talking to friends or family, a phone is necessary. I feel that the best way to insure that someone can never recover from hitting bottom is to leave them isolated and helpless. I've seen someone in the same situation that people are describing (a provider with substance problem) turn their life around completely once they had alternatives.
_If_ someone is actively using, and _if_ they cannot admit they have a problem, or _if_ they are not actively trying to get help, then sure, giving them an endless supply of money is enabling. These are variables that I for one do not know the status of. If on the other hand, someone recognizes that they have a problem and they are trying to do something about it, leaving them with no options gives them little chance of succeeding. I feel that people who have lost everything need a helping hand, not a cold shoulder.
I'm not saying that people here should do anything in particular. It is everyone's own choice whether they wish to try to help someone with money, business, shelter, or material things. I also don't know anything for certain about Nikki's situation as I have not discussed it with her. I do believe that she is in trouble and in turmoil, and shouldn't feel completely alone and isolated. Despair and loss of hope will not help her.
I feel that a phone is important for her safety, and for her to turn her life around, but that's my opinion.

It's a prank?Clearly it has something to do with the stolen phone and I wouldn't believe anyone here had anything to do with that. The message sounds targeted at people associated with the thief / criminal. All any of us could ever be accused of is that we once called a phone that got stolen. I'm not going to worry about it.
