1) buy one of their phones (on Sprint network) for $20 or so, or a GSM SIM (AT&T) for I think $5. They generally start you off on a free 1 GB trial and / or add services, but they are easy to cancel via the website. Once you have downgraded, it remains 100% free. The Sprint plans you get like 500 MB, 200 minutes, 250 texts, the AT&T plans are 200 MB.
2) download the app for Android or iOS (the Text Free & Call Free app, NOT the Messaging one) and create an account. You get a second number the same amount of minutes and texts as the free plans mentioned above.
The first option is better if you want to have minimal personal information connected to your phone and / or use as a backup phone, the second option is better if you don't want to spend a dime on a second number.

I had tried google voice previously, but it would not work on my iphone. I finally sat down and tried to figure it out and got it. You can download the google voice app on your iphone, but you have to actually go to Safari and search for google voice on their website. From there, you authorize your iphone to be used with the google voice account and then it works flawlessly. Sideline was great, but even that had a slight delay. Google Voice is quick, free, and I really recommend it. The only possible negative is that you link it to a google account, so you need to open a fake google account first in order to stay completely anonymous. Good luck and screw Sideline! If they would have said 5 bucks a month, I might have done it, but 10. No way in hell.

I only connect to wifi at my house, work, family and a few friends homes. The rest of the time I'm using data. My data usage for the app has been<0.01GB since the 1st of this month. I have used 0.03GB wifi usage in the same amount of time. I've used it outside of the motels and other places without any issues. I set everything up on a tablet and then downloaded the app to my phone. I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. Android system.

So some nut case teacher decides to take her own "revenge" on men by setting them up and pepper spraying them as punishment for their "crimes". It seems that the crazies are multiplying to no end. This guy sounds like he took most all precautions but still got burned. You never know.
