GRRRR...very disappointing.

Outcalls keep things more on your terms to some extent. Biggest piece of advice is go with your gut. If it looks or sounds too good to be true. It probably is! I try to avoid the people that post daily on craigslist and are really loud about things as that only attracts attention. I am also not a big fan of e-mailing back and forth or lengthy phone conversations.
Also I would NOT reccomend partaking of any drugs or alcohol and then going off to the races. Decreases judgement and awareness AND if anything should happen where you are in a bad situation it is one more thing for you to get nailed on.

I've seen a few busts over the years, but except for streetwalker stings they don't seem to target the johns as much as the providers. And if you follow the 22 rules for mongering on this forum you should never have a problem with SW busts.
Research the providers. Look for reviews on escorts, eyeoncraig, as pd, ter. Look for CL ads in other areas (google site:craigslist.org/ers/ [phone or name]). Google the phone#. Look for recurring ads. After a while you get fairly comfortable that a provider is real or potential bad news.

Unless they have a web site where you can see what's going to be knocking on your door (most do out-call), then I wouldn't bother. Whether it is metroland, the yellow pages, Qwest, or whatever; with the internet so ingrained, why a women can't email a PIC or post a PIC online becomes very suspucious. PKI've had similar situations, the bottom line is you can't go home stinking if your GF/Wife is there. You can take a shower and change clothes at Jasmine's on central ave for $9. A bit steep for a shower maybe but it solves the problem. Also you can join planet fitness gym for 19. 95 a month and shower there, they are even open 24/7 m-th. Tryed frebreeze doesn't work, that's when I concluded that $9 is a small price to pay to not hear the bitching.

Another good reason to maintain a gym membership -- if she knows you work out once in a while, it's easy to "work out" with a girl instead, stop by the gym to shower...

Andy, I have used the Ramada in Latham when it was the Holiday Inn. About 70 for the night. I paid cash and they wanted a credit card. I would give them an Amex 100 giftcard. They never did anything with it and they are good for two years and cost me 6.00 bucks at a CVS. They had outside doors to the rooms so you could see what was going on outside. Some outcall providers shun some hotels so becareful where you pick. I know some won't go to the Turf on Wold Road.
I just used the travelodge on rt9 recently. It's nothing special but the rooms all have private entrances, it's dirt cheap, and you can ask for a room towards the back so you car won't be visible by anything short of satellite.
Any hotel will let you pay cash, but many (most?) want a credit card for incidentals and protection against theft or damage. Some will accept a cash deposit instead of the creidt card. But do as RD says and get a disposable card and keep a few hundred on it just for this purpose.
I use a debit card for everything, and nothing appears on my statement if I use the card to reserve the room, but pay in cash. But I'm single and have no privacy to worry about, so don't take my word on it.
Finally, I wouldn't ask about hourly rates at any chain motels or nice hotels. They know what it means, and you never know when you might get a cranky clerk with a friend on the PD. You can get a room for 50-80 bucks easily, so an hourly room isn't going to save you much. The last hourly rate place I can remember is that little dump in schenectady next to the titty bar... can't remember the name at the moment due to the alzheimers... :-)

I have success at the econo lodge on rt 155 off of rt 9 in Latham. It's run by Paky's (no offense my fellow mongers) so they don't have any problem with negotiation. I call in advance and tell them I have $50 tax included to spend on a room. And its worked every time. They don't ask for credit cards ever. The room is nothing great but for .5 what the hell. I've been in worse for sure.
