In Hartford you can try the following streets: Wethersfield Ave, Niles St, Walnut Street. You will most likely spend two days driving around and come up empty handed. The SW scene is hit or miss. As many have already told you, but neglected to put directions,
Head I91 south to 5/15 south (AKA the Berlin Turnpike). and just look for the
signs on >BOTH< sides, the hourly rate ones, say so right on their sign.
The gruntmore, Umm.. Grantmoor was well known.. (not sure how it's fairing as of late.) Seirra was another one. (Seirra was also long-term I seem to remember. Ran into one girl long ago who rented by the month.)

What I remember from a friend who worked for SBC back in the day was that the the first three numbers of a number after the area code typically indicate the area/town in which the number dials into first/goes to first. Usually it would also originate there as well.
Glastonbury has three prefixes: 657, 659, and 633. I'm pretty darn sure that 657 wouldn't be anywhere else. Of course, that number could just be a switchboard of sorts and it could send us to a number that doesn't originate from there. :p
As for cell phones, it gets a little more complicated. Bubba, your acquaintance in So. Cal. most likely originally got the cell phone here. A friend of mine now lives in NJ but he's got a 203 area code on his cell because he used to around New Haven. Wanderer, your cell phone is a Hartford prefix for a similar reason: I assume you bought your cell phone around the Hartford area.

Would appreciate any tips on how they do this or phrase the request, as well as whether it does effect the session. I've found that the couple of times I ask if room to go lower all I get is a laugh or a refusal. Appreciate any comments or discussion from members with experience in this area.

My standards for spending are relatively low compared to the CL shoppers but they still work out the same. You have to set your limits and rules and stick to them. If you are reasonable with the amounts and do not waver, eventually you will shape your environment instead of it shaping you...
The perfect rule is like going shopping for a car. Be willing to walk away no matter how much you want it. If you get the impression that she is going to cheat you on the time or service then she definitely will. The second best way is the way I used to get dates in high school. Ask 100 women to go out. If only 5 percent say yes, WAHO!!!!!! Always remember the worst thing a provider could say to you is no. One more thought...
Another way is to get off your lazy ass, and get a second full time job. There are 24 hours in a day you know. Myself, I only put in a half day's work (12 hours) but most aren't even willing to do that. Imagine what you could do with an additional 600-1000 a week.

For the one seeking advice on negotiating...
I have to say this, and it differs from my brother Steele, who's parlay skillz I've not seen matched in many years at this game.
If you are looking to negotiate, you really have to know the quantities you are dealing with and their circumstances. If you are dealing with P4P providers that are sourced, you have little -initially- to bargain with. They have their costs, etc. Bills do have to be paid. But some, especially middle tier, moderately successful will sometimes parlay for exchanges. I've seen it all from tutoring, to discounts at stores, to free spa treatments, rooms, etc. Once you've built a bridge with one, its easier to negotiate a better deal for you.
As for talking them down from the phone...from the start...its tough. Very tough. You have to be willing to here quite a few no, no no, and HELL NO on the phone. If you can handle it...go for it. It makes the rest of us who don't try to negotiate look better.
If you are in the pinch, see if she has a 1/2 hour special, or early bird special. I've negotiated things down by paying for their rooms upfront for them to use for the day. I eat a small cost that is a headache for them...and it gets their biggest incall "shop" bill off of their minds.
But I can't stress enough...you have to build rep with them. No one, and I mean no one likes to feel shirked for hard worked money they earned. If you can keep them from equating self-worth with donations, it helps. But mostly...they all wrap themselves in it very, very deeply.

Searching here I found vague information about the existence of Sierra and Grantmoor. Not exactly reviews or information, but that they exist as perhaps an implicit endorsement?
I know there is a ton of wisdom to be found on this board and I'm hoping folks will share. How expensive? How clean? How scary?

It's been a while, but the Flamingo on the western end used to be decent. It was clean, and off the road.
Nearby but across the street was I think....the "welcome Inn" or something.
it was also ok at the time.

Having used information from my request, I'm giving back.
I needed a place to lay my head and checked into the Siesta Motel. Rent was $40. The room provided was clean, outdated, and sufficient. Nothing scary to be found. Very faint remnants of smoke in the air, even though a non-smoking room. Nothing that would leave with you. The driveway, on the other hand, is a little tough to find. It is on the ramp coming from rt 175 (?) from the west onto 15/5 south.
Complimentary adult channel on the TV was appreciated by all. Microwave and 'fridge if you have need. Perhaps for popcorn while watching the movies?

Having a bit more time than, say, three hours, I booked an evening at the Terra Motel for about 10 more than the short stay rates previously encountered.
The room was clean, quiet, and warm upon check-in. No adult TV programming. There was no lingering smoke odor in this non-smoking room, but the smell of cleaning products was prominent.
They are just a bit off of the pike, so the parking is not visable to through traffic.

Although Terra is in a more discreete location, the owner was interviewed and said he would never do short stays. ie He did not approve of people comming in just for our purpous. Honestly I would not make the trip 15 south to play in the triple A league. That said, there is potential here. From personal experience I have had a few benefits in the CR's, even the 15 minute version ($.25 for 15"), but the wide open LD area and the heavily surveilled CR moves the majority of the action outside. Since I am too old for parking lot dates (offered more than once), TO is 1) better 2) more available, and 3) negotiable especially in the rough economy. I used to know a dancer that would run to a close no-tell between her sets during the day shift. That was well timed!!
Alas most of my contacts here have moved on in the past year and the ones that are left don't really interest me anymore. The ones in the market should be easy enough for the trained eye to spot, but if I can help point you in the right direction, let me know.

You can also try taking a really cute one out to dinner or to the Notell across the street (there are at least 3 of them-- on a weekend night they will be all sold out). But beware-- when you take them out of the carnie environment they all really fucking scary. Less social skills than most Springfield SWs.
