.I've found BKK to be a bit too much for me as I travel alone. I think I'd have had better experiences if I was with a group of friends or a P4 P type of tour guide. Not that I didn't enjoy my times there but I prefer the overall vibe of Pattaya better. It's more of a resort / party town that goes from dawn to dawn.

Thanks!As others have said, don't waste time in Bangkok. Dirty crowded and polluted. The girls are worn out. Pattaya is second best in my opinion. But as it's a navy port the girls are a little jaded by too many sailors. Phuket is the Maui of Thailand. Many 5 star resorts. A bit more pricy but the accommodations, food and girls are all of higher quality. I would spend most of my time here. It's also the most beautiful part of Thailand I think.
The exchange rates are good so splurge a little!

Pattaya is about a 2 hour drive from the Bangkok airport. The Sukhumvit area in Bangkok (where Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy are) is at least 30 minute drive from the airport, depending on traffic.
Bangkok is huge, busy and can get overwhelming and be a challenge to find your way around until you learn the transit system or how to deal with taxis and grab. But still, the traffic, even on transit when it hits capacity at 5:00 pm and trains are full. But a lot of guys get a hotel in lower Sukhumvit and spend an entire week never straying far from the first mile of that road, everything's walkable.
Pattaya, everything's along a couple miles of beach front, within 1/2 mile of the beach. Figure out the baht bus and have grab installed, you'll be able to get around fine. The beach isn't the best, but jomtien is a short ride around the corner (via baht bus) and koh larn is a quick boat ride away.
I love Bangkok, but it's not for everyone. A lot of people hate it.

Airlines boarding gate was the only place vaccine cards were checked.
Depending on airlines, you probably will need a mask in flight. Make sure you have a comfortable one.

Spend 3 days in BKK to adjust the time zone change, then either go to Phuket or Pattaya.
Don't bother with Patpong. I like Soi Cowboy. Soi Nana has more ladyboys and is more of a firetrap, if anything happens.
Personally, I don't care to hang out in Pattaya, too sex touristy for me. Don't swim there either. The sewer dumps about 1. 3 km off the beach. Nasty!!

I have never played in Phuket itself. It's a long drive from Bangkok. I prefer Krabi. It's got great beaches and plenty of nighttime companions.
Since I babble in Thai, I tend to frequent spots you would never consider, and still have great time. Hua Hin is good place.
Try to fly EVA air. Departure from SEA sucks, it's all night flight. But, you get to BKK mid-day and I find it easier to adjust. Their airfares are very good, usually.
Don't take tuk-tuk in BKK. You will get ripped off and riding in one sucks. Always use taxi and be sure they use meter. Always carry a mix of Thai change, small bills. Taxis won't give back change.

So this November I'm thinking about going on a 2 week trip to Thailand. It'll be my first time. My rough itinerary is to spend the first 5-6 days in Bangkok, then 4-5 days in Phuket for some relaxation, and then back to Bangkok until I leave. While I definitely want to check the infamous RLD in Bangkok, I'm hoping to find a girl or 2 to take with me to Phuket.Frankly I feel 2 weeks just isn't enough time, especially if its your first time. I recommend bringing cash. If you try for cash from an ATM be dam sure its connected to the bank itself and they are open incase the machine eats your card. I have met more than a few expats that lost a few days because the ATM they used at 2 am kept their card. I have cards for emergency or unexpected expenses. $200 a day is plenty. Bring hundreds and change a couple a day at one of the many exchange booths. Most of the hot girls wanted 3000 baht for short time in 2017, they gladly accepted a benji. I leave my money in the hotel room safe with passport and use my passport card to exchange money. Thats just me. Having a few cards might be just as good. I don't trust the Thai's so I only use my card at my hotel.
One new thing, maybe sombody knows the answer. In 2017 my cell had a sim card. You could a sim there at the airport or cheaper in town, like $20 for an unlimited 1 month card, came with a different phone#. These days the sim is sealed so the phone is waterproof. I was wondering if cell companies have affordable options? My T-mobile plan at the time had service there but no data connection. You must have a data connection to get around. What are you guys doing now? I thought maybe an old phone or tablet that takes a sim?
Frankly I feel 2 weeks just isn't enough time, especially if its your first time. So depressing to have to leave. Hua Hin and Krabi are both laid back and beautiful, I especially liked Krabi. But you'd need to do homework on where bars are before you go, and post covo I dunno what kinda recovery they've had there. I was in Krabi late 2019 and found their version of "walking street" (I think they actually called it that), 5 bars, maybe 3-4 ladies in each. No gogos, all beer bars. (I. E. No girls dancing on a stage, just casually dressed joining you at the bar). Vs. Pattaya, Walking street, 50 bars and 2000 ladies? (and then there's Soi Metro, Soi 6, etc.).
I get the whole "flight recovery" in Bangkok and do it all the time, but I don't think it's really any better a place than Pattaya for that, Pattaya ain't that far, and Nana isn't that close to the airport.
(I've never been to Phuket, can't really share much, except that it's bigger than Krabi but much smaller P4 P than Pattaya.).
It really all depend on what you want to do when you're not fucking, and how big a selection you want. (If you want to just keep fucking the whole time, just call Pattaya home, but it's kinda a shithole.).
Skimmers on ATMs are rumored to be pretty rampant. Use ATMs in secure locations. Have backup if you loose your card, you don't want to be without cash, spoils a lot of fun. Crisp clean $100's will get you the best rate at the currency exchange booths. (I use schwabb checking ATM, they don't charge for, and refund the other banks ATM fees, no foreign exchange fees, general best rate and most convenient, but I always still take about $500 in large bills).
Google Fi has just worked for data everywhere I've ever gone. But, otherwise, make sure you have an unlocked phone and you can get a tourist SIM from AIS or DTAC at the airport, right outside customs, before stepping outside into the Taxi line. (and do use the official taxi line, unless you prearranged a car, don't go off with some "service" offered by a tout with a sign, but not getting screwed by a taxi in Bangkok is could be a whole nother 10,000 posts in itself.). My band new Pixel still takes physical SIMs, but also ESIMs, which you can buy online from AIS or DTAC, but apparently can't activate until in Thailand, and will need Wifi from what I've heard.
But phone, and money issue are kinda same same but different anywhere you travel, more or less. I (used to) travel enough to use a schwab checking account and Fi phone service cause they just work everywhere I've been without added fees. And getting screwed by Taxis is different everywhere, but always happens.

If you want to check out the gogo bar scene, the 2 main areas will be Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy. There are so many options, but a lot of it has to do with your comfort level. The gogo bar scene is good, but if you're looking for something a bit more intimate, you can try sideline girls, freelancers at clubs and bars, and also check out massage joints and luxury spas. Lots of different places to try.
