I reluctantly renewed premium after months of letting it languish since I have some travel coming up and really don't see many options in MN. I usually can find 5-10 potentials in the sub-$300 range who are 'cute enough' for me. Never send money in advance. If she wants $400 for a first meeting, confirm what that means. To just show up? Hell no. That means intimacy will cost at least double if not over $1,000.

Don't reply to unsolicited messages (bots / scammer / or site autogenerated message).
Don't pay to see hidden pics or boost messages (if you connect, just ask her to send via text).
Watch for city / country changes (usually scammers).

I usually message 10-30 potentials that through the triage process end up setting 3-8 meets. After that you're paying to be able to consider 3-5 new SBs each month (more join but most log in a few times then abandon their profiles). I avoid the ones I've seen super active for a long time. So far, out of all the messages I have gotten to, and interacted with, I have gone to text with about a dozen of them. Most, if not all, are super eager to meet, and get started. And interestingly, only maybe 2 of them had Minnesota phone numbers. One even had a Puerto Rico number. And in her profile / photos, she is NOT Puerto Rican hahaha!
Most of them are so eager to meet immediately, that they are not happy when I say I am not free at the moment, and I'll look at my schedule.
Not sure what's up. Probably some scammers in there, but haven't got to the scam part yet. Some may just be broke desperate women needing money asap.

Quick update on this piece of work. She reached out again via text, and wanted to meet. By this point, I had already figured things out. I had thought she blocked me on SA. But the strange part was the message history was gone. If you get blocked, or the girl deactivates or deletes her profile, the message history stays. But if her account gets removed due to abuse / fraud, everything is removed including all message history. So. Red flag!
So I played along. Chatted a bit, and she wanted to meet asap. So, sure. Lets meet. I set a time, told her I would book a hotel. A few hours later I told her be ready to go by 3 pm. At 2:45 pm, I texted her the name and address of a hotel and said I would be checking in soon. She immediately comes back with the classic question. "Can you send me money for my sitter before I head that way". Hmmm. RED FLAG #2. I responded that I could give her some extra when we meet. Then she lashed out, and said "If you can't send just a few bucks to the sitter to keep her baby, then you're never ready". BINGO! We have a winner!
Then of course she continued to be hostile, and I can't force her to meet up, etc. Etc. I responded that SHE was the one pushing so hard for a meet, and I only agreed.
Overall. Just another scammer.

Messaged a woman off Seeking, our communication moved to text, and we spoke briefly on the phone. She invited me over to her apartment. Once there, she came down to let me in the secured entrance. In her room room we carried on some small talk, she seemed nice and genuine. I put the donation on a table, we talked some more, she put the donation away in a purse, explaining that a guy ran off with the money from her prior meets. She said I could turn on the TV and that she was going to go to the bathroom. After about a minute of waiting, I thought what sounded like a door opening and I looked to the side and there was a man slowly walking toward me with one hand in a fanny pack. She either stayed in the bathroom or, more likely, went outside the room. I was scarred and assumed he had a gun. I really have no idea if he had one or not, but wasn't about to take chances. He was as calm as could be as he walked with 15 feet or so. I explained to him that I wasn't going to do anything, had my hands up, and that I was just going to leave, which I did. I had never been in a situation quite like that.
It's quite brazen for them to to something like this at their place. Even if he didn't walk over with one hand in the fanny pack, I probably wouldn't have done anything, unless I was attacked. I would have just got the heck out of there. It's just not worth it, especially for just $$. 2, and I have too much to lose. Sooner or later though, these clowns will probably fuck with someone who doesn't have anything to lose, and will suffer consequences. They are too stupid to do a risk reward analysis.

I thought I'd share some things I do to vet SB's, along with some lessons I learned. Hopefully it will be helpful.
Never send any money upfront and use a burner phone (but we all know this, right). I've been hit up at the last minute for money for Uber rides, childcare, etc. These are scams. Never verify via video chat. They can screen capture images and threaten to "blow up your life. " A genuine sugar relationship is legal, but there's a stigma.
Tools I sometimes use: Facecheck ID, Pimeyes, Google including reverse image search, Whitepages dot you know the rest, Spydialer, social media.
Free online Civil / criminal record lookup.
Using AI to get info based on their pics can reveal a ton of info. Recently I used AI to search for one of their photos and up popped her orange-suited mugshots. Snipping the photo the mugshot and using google image search led to a local newspaper write-up about how she got busted for narcotics. I'll add that through AI searching I have came across LinkedIn profile pics which I screen snipped to do a google image search for, finding her LinkedIn. I've also busted fakes that use Instagram porn sites. I actually had a good meet with someone who, as I learned prior to meet, was a webcam woman but she was well-reviewed.
If they don't use a voip phone you can sometimes find a lot about a person including their name. I've encountered scenarios where they're tied to businesses and that can give you something to go off of, and whitepages website can reveal age range and other info. Eventually if you get their name it's often possible to run it through court databases.
Before meeting for a meet and greet, I will ask what their standard ppm rate is to see if it works. If they say too high number I won't waste our time. I confirm their age to make sure they are adults. If they text message explicitly it's bye because that's bad news.
One thing I've started to do is, I will ask for them to send a selfie with them holding up a book / pencil / pen and 4 fingers or whatever. This will typically scare scammers away. Although in one instance a scammer but have used really good AI because the photo did the custom pic, although the AI wasn't good enough and I could still spot it. Personally, I will send a mirror selfie with my phone obscuring ½ my face. This helps prevent extortion and AI isn't good enough to search off of it yet. Also if you get a custom from her it reduces the chances of a scammer just not showing up. On 2 occasions I showed up expecting to meet for coffee but was ghosted. Scammer was pissed I said I would only pay in person and just wanted to waste my time, apparently.
After having about 5 successful 1st time meetings at their place / hotel, I will never do this again since I got robbed on one occasion. I will never, ever skip the meet and greet unless there's a lot of feedback on a person from trusted reviewers. The meet and greet for me is at a public venue like a coffee shop. This is basically a vibe check that a lot of scammers won't do, but some do anyways. There's controversy on this point, but I don't mind spoiling $40-60 (tops) on a meet and greet. It shows her I'm a serious SD, and I consider the payment token.
Subsequent dates occur at a hotel of my choosing. I don't mind dropping $80 for peace of mind knowing that I control the environment, and not having to worrying about a dude popping in. Cheap insurance in my book. If I eventually wanted to meet at here place, assuming I knew a lot about her and had many hotel dates, I may consider it, but there's even reports of SB's deciding to become thieves after many hotel dates so you really can't fully trust them ever.
Avoid drug users. You just never know he might OD is your presence or be completely unpredictable. I also wouldn't want to try and explain to LE about how drugs wound up in the hotel room if things got out of control, she OD'ed ect.
In my early days, I wasted money on rinsers who wanted me to spoil large sums for just dinner / coffee meets. Never again. 1-2 dates like that at most for me.
For hotel meets I am very careful about when I hand over the money. That's when the power dynamic changes. She must be in the room, and I try to pay after saying I've been cash and dashed and then when she invariably says no I say half upfront. Usually that won't work and I pay the full donation, which I am okay with because that is standard, but doesn't hurt to ask IMO.
Back when I first started I fell for the let me pay for the hotel room out of your donation scam. Via text, she said she said she had a friend who worked at the front desk, and that she could get a discount off the room and let the room charge be applied against the total donation. I picked her up in my car, skipping the meet and greet, and she directed me to a hotel. She said to wait in my car and then she would take care of the room at text me the number. After 5 minutes, she texted me the number to a top floor room. Sure enough, when I went to the room she wasn't there and she blocked my number. You live and you learn.
I've started to experiment with turning the video camera of my phone on and then turning it off after 2 seconds or so of talking upon meeting, claiming that I am wrapping up an important text message. That way if things go south, I at least have the image of what she really looks like. Being in a genuine sugar relationship is not illegal, or else most couples would be criminals, LOL, as women demand their partner to have more money and spend significantly on them.
Nothing of course is perfectly safe. If a woman were to give me trouble in a hotel I'd exit the room to get into the video recorded hallways right away, letting her do the cash and dash. Sometimes you just meet a bad person and there's nothing you can do outside of physically not letting her leave, which I would never do. If it came to needing a defense attorney, well, they can easily cost $500 not to mention the associated issues.
If there is a LE issue stay silent even though they will pester. Again being in a true sugar relationship isn't illegal but who knows how things can get spun. Also might be a good idea to have a burner phone that is not activated and but can just be used for photo video. No need to have the real burner phone stolen if it comes to that. If she acts weird in the hotel start recording her while leaving toward the door.

This one had an elaborate scheme. I fell for it.
Met her at a restaurant. Told this story about how she was abused. How I was her first meet on seeking. Everything was going well until we agreed to meet up at her place. She asked for money before we head out to her place. I assumed it was legit. I should have known better. I gave her the $$.
I went to her apt and she arrived before I did. I was at the intercom and asked her to let me in. She asked for more $$$ because she was "nervous" before she let me in. Shame on me! I left the scene.

Two ways one could scam the scammer is try to do stuff in the car with her before going to the hotel. Second would be to give her prop money when she goes in to get the hotel room. If things work out, you can always give her real money in minecraft.

I won't be reupping there any time soon. I signed up for SDM and immediately got contacted by our scammer, LovelyPink. I think I'll string her along a bit and if any of you guys have an idea for a long-con we can use to give her back a bit of frustration I'd be interested.

Also, thanks Wisco for the sage advice. I intend to use your ideas.Secret Benefits is not legit. It has many fake profiles, very few legit responses, and is a waste of time and money. Seeking is the biggest site. I have experienced a higher response rate on SDM.
I've only used Seeking, so I'm not that knowledgeable about the other sites. I'm taking a break for a while from sugar sites but I think next time around I may try SB. I think with Seeking it only makes sense to sign up for 1 month at a time, for maybe twice a year. The rooster of legit women don't come and go all that often from the site. Discount codes can be found online. I don't believe they expire. Or if you sign up, but do not actually pay, within a couple weeks or so they will send an offer for 20% off since they don't think they'll hook you with the higher price. The site was worth it for me but it is very very time consuming, lots of scammers to sift through, flakes, and those with unrealistic financial expectations. In addition to sugar babies on the site, there are straight up escorts. I've had quite a bit of success on there (3 months spread out over the course of a year). I think I had about 9 meet ups that eventually led to intimacy. For me the site is addictive. Good response rate from women compared to normal dating apps. Before my account expired, and I'd lose the ability to message, I sent a canned email out to many women giving them my burner number so they could reach me that way.

Never pay to see unsolicited messages unless you would have reached out to them first. Never pay to see hidden pics. Just message and if you are interested, move comms to text and get them for free. Never pay to highlight / promote your message. Total fool's gold.
Only pay to send messages to those you are interested in. That's it. I also work in 'not interested in virtual, OF, or flying people in' and 'I will bend over backwards if we meet to go close to you in a safe, public place, and will cover costs within reason once we actually meet. I will NEVER send $ in advance for gas, security, to show I'm serious, etc. If that is your requirement, let's not waste each other's time.'
I find SB best for PMP and when traveling. Lower avg hotness but more open minded. Smaller pool than Seeking though. WYP is okay. I've had some luck but I target a specific type and price point. They've since required a face pic which undermines 'seeking discretion / discreet affairs' - completely ridiculous so closed that shit down.
