It's been a couple years due to Covid I have gone to KAP / Keeamoku area Viet bars. I know they pretty much all closed. Did report back on my visit because frankly, there wasn't much of anything to report. Very slow that evening (Tuesday I believe). The bartender was Viet in her 20's. No one else around except for a mama who looked like she was in her 60's, and some guy doing karaoke (who had enough scar tissue on his scalp to give Abdullah The Butcher a run for his money).
Did a late weeknight visit to Sundance. Rolled in a little after midnight and was pretty slow. Had one customer sitting in a booth with a younger hostess. Saw her come out from the booth and back room to get more drinks. She was noticeably taller and she didn't seem to have a heavy Vietnamese accent. There were two other VBGs that were glued to their phones and didn't approach me. I was surprised to see there was a dancer sitting on the stage. She was very social and started talking to me about the strip bar scene and lack of customers. Passed on getting a dance from her or buying a drink. Finished my drink and left.

I think that area is called Ho'okipa Terrace. Live music on a regular basis. Crowd can vary from a heavy local crowd to a more mixed one often depending on who's playing on stage. Moving west side 850 is the whiskey bar located next to Leeward Bowl (ing) alley. Sort of an attempted upscale-ish bar with kitchen and live music on weekends. Many whiskeys to choose from in addition to an assortment of cold beer. Staff provide as steady supply of young eye candy. Short shorts and cleavage. The bar on the other side of the bowling alley is more laid back with karaoke and beer on tap served by similarly dressed 20 something eye candy. More of a casual, local style vibe. AFAIK the owner is the same fellow who used to own Hawaiian Brian's. Both are chill and safe to grab something to drink especially if you're headed further west. Stay Safe men.
